The renovation project is in full swing here and I am way behind in sharing all of the interesting discoveries that we have made thus far. Some discoveries have answered questions, others raised more questions - more about it all soon! #theaccidentalpreservationist
If you don’t have one cry in your car moment during your renovation, is it even a renovation? - The other day it was raining, like raining buckets, and my yard is a complete dirt patch. And the electrician walked all over my tile floor. My cement tile floor. My UNSEALED cement tile floor. All day long. - It damaged about a quarter of my tile. And people, that’s why we get overages, but we used every single tile I had left. And I had a complete meltdown. Mostly because I wanted to use my extra tiles to make planters for the front porch and everything would match and basically I would be Martha-Fucking-Stewart but instead of a glue gun I would have a power drill. - But today is another day. And the tiles are sealed. And the sun is shining. And all is right with the world again. - Side note, I had to yell at Marmalade “who’s a sassy boy” minimum 30 times to get him to even look at me, so YOU’RE WELCOME. - #remodelista#archesfixerupper#marmforscale#remodel#historicalhomes#historicalrenovation#cementtiles#kitchendesign

This home was originally built in 1936 on the main street of Margaret River, then in recent years it was transported to this location between Boodjidup and Caves Roads. We completed structural and pest inspections here this morning for the buyers. #margaretriverregion#historicalhomes#australianhomes 📸from @stockerpreston
Dumbarton House is interpreted to the the time period of 1804-13 which was during the residency of Joseph Nourse, the first Register of the US Treasury, and his wife Maria. At the time, verdigris, a paint pigment made from copper, was the most vibrant green available and was a popular color choice for wealthy households. The verdigris in the dining room is actually painted on squares of wallpaper which was a common way of making plain wall coverings through the early 19th century. #theaccidentalpreservationist

One of the best feelings about a historical home is revealing what used to be. These steps were found today, I wonder what more we will find that’s been overgrown. Maybe a secret garden...#historicalhomes #oldstonesteps#rewardingwork#ilovethisoldhome
