As part of my lunch today I enjoyed this salad that I topped with a sweet mustard dressing from @highcarbhannah's new sauce book! It was soooo good! (If you wanna get her book, let me know if you'd like 10% off!)🥗💕 . In my pre-vegan days I developed quite an obsession to honey mustard, and when I went vegan I thought I would miss it. Thankfully there are many other sweeteners out there where we don't have to take bee's honey from them (agave, maple syrup, etc)! This sweet mustard dressing is the perfect alternative! 🙌 . What's your favorite thing about spring? I personally love the flowers🌸 Ingredients: -1 1/2 cups sugar -2 cups @kingarthurflour all-purpose flour -2 tsp baking powder -¾ cup of @earthbalance butter (softened) -4 egg replacers, I used Red Mill. -1 cup almond milk -1 tsp lemon extract -1 tsp lemon Zest -1 tbsp dried lavender powder ( I found mine at World Market)  For buttercream frosting: -2 sticks Vegan butter softened -4 cups confectioners’ sugar -3 tbsp almond milk -2 tbsp dried lavender for topping -I used a food dye I made using blackberries and pomegranates, but you can just use a natural purple, food coloring  Instructions: -Preheat oven to 350 degrees. -Make your egg replacers, and set aside -In a small bowl, mix all wet ingredients also adding in your vegan eggs. Completely combine. -In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, lavender). -Using an electric mixer, combine the dry and wet ingredients, until completely combined. -Pour batter into cupcake tins. Bake for 12-18 minutes, until thoroughly cooked. -Let completely cool before decorating.  For buttercream frosting: -Using an electric mixer, beat vegan butter ( room temp), sugar, and almond milk on medium speed until buttercream forms little peaks. -Color your buttercream with your preferred food coloring. So I know it’s texture Tuesday but I’m not just going to mention one single product, I am going to mention a type of product, face oils. For about the last year I have had a pretty healthy obsession with facial oil‘s, not only do they moisturize and give you glowing skin, they also have some very healing properties. A lot of the ingredients in these oil’s are packed with antioxidants and Omega‘s, which are so good to heal and rejuvenate your skin. While I still struggle with my hormonal acne I am very pleased to be using oils in my daily routine. I'm not interested in abandoning a plantbased lifestyle anytime soon over health issues when I caused it, not the food. Our perception of a meal is so askewed from making each one a special treat. When moving to plant based we may not realize we're getting 70-100 grams of fiber a day with little hydration. And we wonder why all this sugar sits around in our gut causing sibo and eventually #candida  I'll probably add wild blueberries next time. Btw, 3 mangos=16g fiber but 3C cabbage= 6g!!!! Omega-3s are essential fatty acids, meaning our bodies can't produce them so we must obtain them through our diets.  The most commonly known source is fish, but there are plenty of ways to obtain it without consuming fish or fish oils.  The 3 main types of Omega-3s are ALA (short chain), DHA and EPA (long chains). The sources shown contain ALA so in order to obtain DHA and EPA, our bodies convert the ALA.  Can our bodies convert enough for optimal health?  Absolutely! The servings shown provide optimal amounts of ALA for our bodies to convert into the necessary DHA and EPA. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends 100-250mg a day depending on your age.  If you are not able to consume one of these sources daily, a supplement can be a good alternative! Since fish get their Omega-3s from algae, there are now many algae oil supplements available with pre-converted DHA and EPA.  And it is recommended that pregnant women take an Omega-3 supplement.  Fish and fish oils on the other hand are contaminated with PCBs, mercury, and dioxins. And some tilapia are actually fed flax seed to get their DHA levels higher. But most fish get theirs from algae. And according to the Mayo Clinic "While generally safe, too much fish oil can increase your risk of bleeding and might suppress your immune response. Take fish oil supplements under a doctor's supervision." So it's better to stick to one of these options shown.  Do you eat one of these daily? Stopped by @thefuelbrighton yesterday and got an amazing wrap and juice! This is the raw blt wrap, a collard leaf filled with lettuce, tomato, eggplant bacon, chipotle mayo, and cashew sour cream. With a kale, pineapple, and orange juice which is my new fav combo 🌿✨ I should have taken this picture inside instead of in the car, because if you haven’t been before, it’s beautiful in their restaurant!
