When you become exposed to yourself in this way, you can either ignore them, deflect them, and blame them on your partner and everything external to you like I did for the longest time, or you can put your pride aside, acknowledge them and take accountability for how and why you were triggered. . In order to work on your relationship, and your life, you need to know how to work on yourself. When something comes up for you, in order to identify what you need to heal, you’d want to ask yourself this one profound question: . What is it, within me, that’s causing this feeling or reaction? . You see, you create your own reality through the meaning you assign your thoughts. The meaning you assign, which is a choice, creates an emotional response, and therefore a feeling. Choose a different meaning, feel a different feeling. . Read that part again, slowly. . When you apply this, you no longer react from your wounded subconscious, but rather from a place of grounded and conscious responses. Without the knowledge that you create your own reality, that you choose how you feel, you and/or your partner will rely on circumstances external to you in order to be happy or to solve your issues. With that mindset, nothing will ever change long-term unless the external changes. . Take responsibility, not blame, and seek to create a reality where both partners are accountable for their own behaviors, actions, and reactions, and more specifically, for the meaning they assign their thoughts. . We cannot expect our partner to heal us, but they, and we, can offer support along each other’s journeys, assuming we’re both honest, understanding, and receptive in a safe space that we’ve created together. . These glasses are an unintentional fashion statement - they’re designed to make light less harsh so that light causes me less pain than normal. I wear them in bright spaces, like my office so that I can function. I wear them to social events so I can actually participate. But most people just think they’re a fashion statement. Which hurts me a little, being in pain when I’m wearing them, having a disease that limits my activity but all people can see are these pink glasses. Invisible illness can be so tough - people telling you “oh I love your glasses” when you are trying so hard to continue through invisible pain. But I also find that it’s a good opportunity to educate people about disability, Migraine, challenging environments for those of us with sensory issues like photophobia. My partner told me I should be proud to wear them and use them as a tool for education, so every time I feel myself getting frustrated about the invisible nature of migraine, I will turn that energy into empowerment to educate others. Peace. This week we are in Salt Lake City celebrating Young Living’s 25th Anniversary and grand convention. It’s such a fun week filled with 40,000 people, tons of events, lots of chatting and so much goodness. I felt called to anchor in the week with a visit to Temple Square. It is a beautiful place of serene right within the city. As I sat, breathing, and relaxing, I took out my phone to take a picture and this is what I found. Why is this view relevant? Recently I have been contemplating peace and how to integrate peace even amidst chaos. What image can I imagine in my minds eye that would bring me a reminder of tapping into peace? Instantly, I pictured laying near the ground looking up into the canopy of the trees, watching as the dappled light flowed through. Lo and behold, here in this place, my reminder of peace manifested, and I anchored in. A beautiful reminder of love and support all around me. The key to happiness I have learnt is all in how you live your life. It’s saying yes only when you mean yes, it’s saying no when you mean no. It’s knowing when you need to be in bed at 7pm, or separate yourself for a time out. It’s sleeping in and getting up early. It’s eating the cake and drinking the wine (in moderation of course). It’s taking yourself out for a nice dinner or a picnic in the park. It’s being alone and together with others. It’s finding deep connection to your soul, spirit and desires. It’s finding deep connection to the soul, spirit and desires of others. It’s being able to listen, really listen - to the whispering of your ❤️, your body, your mind and taking it in without judgement or the need to fix or change. It’s being able to do this with and for others. It’s taking risks, chances and jumping at opportunities. Being willing to change and accept change, even when it’s not easy. It’s saying I love you to your family, your friends and those you care about. It’s saying I love you but I can’t be here for you right now to all of the above when you need to protect your own heart. The key to happiness isn’t how big your house, your closet, your wallet or your friends list. I have found the key to happiness is learning to be content with where the journey of your life takes you in each moment. It’s finding the space to pause, to breath, to find gratitude for the highs and lows and remembering to honour your heart. It’s like has always been said, happiness really isn’t found beyond yourself. It is a process, an uncovering of layers and something that ebbs and flows like most things in life. So what if your goal wasn’t always striving to be happy, what if you were content with moments of happiness? What if contentment
