Back at it 💪🏻 #pinkhairdontcare . . . After what was almost a month long break from my fitness regime, I was back at my first class of the year today. Was it a little harder than usual? Yep. Did I struggle to do a couple of things I could smash last month? You betcha. Did I sweat like a gypsy with a mortgage? Yes indeedy. But I kept going. I did as many push ups on my toes as I could before dropping to my knees. I readjusted my deadlift form that had slipped a bit. I went down a weight on my tricep extensions to get my form back on track and I struggled through my last set of downward dogs after annihilating my arms in the previous sets. I was a bit rusty but it didn’t take long for my muscle memory to kick in and conquer the majority of the circuit exercises. You can have a break and go back without too much of challenge. I think we forget that a lot when we have a few weeks off here and there or go into vacay mode. It’s not the end of the world if you take a few weeks off, just don’t let those weeks turn into months. You won’t lose all your progress on a 2 week holiday. So don’t get back and think “ahhh screw it, damage is done” because really, aside from a bit of bloating and maybe a couple of fun kgs, you can get back into your routine with very little progress loss. Have a holiday! 🌴Drink champagne! 🥂Go our for dinner with your loved ones. 🍝 Then come back home to business as usual. 💪🏻 . . . Happy Monday Babes! ✌🏻#nevermissamonday

(Mine is probably lattes right now) -------------------------- Sounds simple, right? 🙄 It's not always easy, and slip ups happen. I myself struggle with consistency and blur the lines on how much indulgence is too much. - Currently, I am working to dial in my nutrition and am taking baby steps towards being back in a healthy balance. I'm doing my best, learning as I go, rediscovering my willpower, and most importantly, giving myself some grace. 📆 January for me has been about slowly cutting away the bad (comfort eating/drinking, frequent indulgences, mindless snacking) and gradually adding in better food. I'm already feeling more energized, happier and healthier. Next month, I'll be stricter with meal planning and food choices until I'm back to my sweet spot.
Here are some hanging ab raise exercises that you can incorporate into your workout😬 . . . Hanging knee raises are the easiest on the list, but can be a huge benefit if done properly. When raising the knees, bring them up as high as possible to the chest so that your hips swing upward with them. Keep your body steady, avoid swinging. If it gets too easy, use a barbell between your legs or some ankle weights. . . . Hanging leg raises are up next. This variation is slightly harder. Keep your legs straight and toes pointed while doing this. Do your best to keep movements slow and controlled. Again, use a weight if needed. . . . Hanging bar raises are one of my favorites😁. Essentially, it’s the same movement as the leg raise, but you pass the L-sit position and have your ankles touch the bar. . . . Finally, I call these the Spider-Man raises. It’s the bar raise on steroids. It’s quite intimidating if you haven’t done it before as your body should be completely upside down. Even I myself was having issues with these. Basically, you want to get your body fully extended so that your body is perpendicular to the ground. This one requires both strong core strength and back strength. . . . My Goldilocks zone is 12-15 reps for 3-4 sets.
