Did you listen to yesterday’s episode with the chief development officer, of @westsidefoodbank? It was deeply personal for co-host @ericasteinfreedman who dealt with major food insecurity — even as a child growing up in the affluent community of Malibu, California. When her parents fell on hard financial times, there were moments when they had to choose between food or paying rent (just as Genevieve describes in the episode). Fortunately, Erica was able to rely on social service programs like free lunch at school (sometimes the only meal kids on the program will eat a day) and was delivered free food from agencies that utilized food banks. When the food arrived from the food bank, it was the first time in months that her family’s cabinets were fully stocked with fresh food. This experience shaped her and is a key reason she is so passionate about food affordability, accessibility, and programs like @westsidefoodbank. She was fortunate that this experience only lasted 3 years (from ages 11-14) and realizes for many it can last much longer. He feels grateful that he can still see a part of The Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. It’s a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and is the most visited monument in 🇫🇷 France. On April 15, 2019, a fire started and most of the building was destroyed. It really makes him think... It takes years to build something and seconds for things to get destroyed… Our body 🤸 is a masterpiece as well. When it comes to the impact diet and lifestyle play on our health, it is usually not changed in seconds. It happens slowly over time ⏳ and also cannot be reversed in seconds. It will take them a LONG time to rebuild this cathedral...and you can do the same with your health, you just need the right tools and the right materials. And when you take the right steps, it won’t take as long as this cathedral will to rebuild. But you’ll need consistency and patience.
