Starting off the week right with some homemade paleo bread 🍞 💕 This is my all time favourite bread and it’s super easy as I used the OMG specialty bread mix. The mix is paleo, vegan and free from gluten, dairy and sugar 🌸 It’s super easy to make with no kneading required and there are instructions dependent on how much time you have 🌟 The great thing about this mix (opposed to most GF bread) is that you don’t have to toast it 😍 and can use it as sandwich bread. A luxury when it comes to GF bread, trust me!! It’s a nutritious bread made from a base of buckwheat flour and packed full of activated seeds! It’s very flavoursome and with your own mix, you can add whatever you like - I added almonds to my loaf. But you could add dried fruit, cinnamon and/or dark chocolate for a sweet bread or more activated nuts and seeds or veges for additional nutritional power 💖 A must try for my fellow gluten free peeps in NZ 😊
Sometimes you have to concede to the rest day. Even if it's an unscheduled rest day. Yesterday I started with a spring cold and thought for sure I'd have it kicked in time for my workout this evening. Wrong! I actually had to call in sick from work. I got three more hours sleep and didn't move my butt from the chair, except for essentials. Speaking of essentials, rest days are essential. Your body needs an opportunity to repair and restore, especially if you are training hard. You can actually do more damage by not allowing your body to rest and repair. So, rather than hinder my immune system further, I gave my body the rest it was demanding and fed it nutritious foods. Sure, I have that Pooh Bear-esque feeling that we all get when we feel guilty for taking an extra rest day, but that's all in my head and my body with thank me in the long run!
This is a simple vegetable side I toss together frequently. 3 zucchini (sliced, halved) 1 red pepper (diced) 1 small package of mushrooms (quartered) Olive oil @mccormickspice all purpose seasoning 1. Wash and rinse produce. 2. Cut produce how you like. 3. Use medium heat and pour a small amount of olive oil in the bottom of your pan. 4. Toss vegetables and seasoning in pan. 5. Stir frequently and cook vegetables until tender. 6. Serve and enjoy! #easypeasy#supersimpleside#eatyourveggies

I love being in charge of something food related when attending or throwing a party because I can ensure there are light, healthy and delicious options that I feel good and confident in choosing to snack on. . . . A lot of clients talk about how social events or going over to friends houses stress them out because they believe they can’t eat anything or they will fall into temptation. . . . Believing you can’t have, shouldn’t have or it’s off limits is a whole other conversation, so for today, I want you to know, always offer to bring something to the gathering. This way you are guaranteed to make a choice you feel confident, happy and healthy about. . . . If you can’t think of anything, take these avocado, cucumber and smoked salmon bites. 🥑 🥒 🎣 below is how I did it! . . . Cut English cucumber into dollar sized bites. Smash avocado and season with salt and old bay seasoning. Place avocado smash on cucumber and sprinkle with chive and lemon juice. Place piece of smoked salmon on top and voila! Enjoy 😊

Did you know last May I graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and became a certified holistic health coach? Well shortly after I graduated we found out we were pregnant and I let my pregnancy take over as most of us do, and lost sight of focusing on some of the things I enjoy, which includes putting my certification to use! Emma surprised me as she snapped this picture today in the market (can’t you tell 🥴), but it got me thinking — because it is #earthday after all — “how can I make this world better?” 🌎🙌🏻 . The answer: eat more real, whole foods that come from the earth! 🌿 Plant-based is not only a diet, it’s a way of living and eating and thinking about how we view the food we put in our mouths. At my home we don’t eat strictly plant-based, we also have wild fish & organic/grass-fed animal products, but I would say 80% of my diet is plant-based. At just 90 calories per bite, it’s sweet, savory, and TOO easy to make. — 📌Save this and make your own in less than 10 minutes: — 1️⃣ Stir 1 cup dry rolled or quick oats, 1/4 c peanut butter, 1/4 c honey, 1/4 c dark chocolate m&m’s, and a dash of sea salt in a mixing bowl. 2️⃣ Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (this doesn’t count for the “10 minutes” of making 😜). 3️⃣ Scoop out a tablespoon-sized amount and roll into a ball with your hands. I’m not saying this is the prettiest salad you'll see all day, but I am saying it's the tastiest 😎 I cannot get enough of this arugula and crispy artichoke salad combo 🤤 Ya'll, ya gotta try this. It's perfect any time, but especially on #meatlessmonday . 🥗Use your airfryer (or pan fry) the artichokes (I used jarred) and shallots to get them crispy. Meanwhile, fill a bowl with a heaping pile of organic arugula and top it with some shredded parm. Once your shallots and artichokes are crispy, top them on the salad and drizzle it all with EVOO and pink salt. ✨Just because it’s common doesn’t make it normal✨ This is a concept that I run into on a daily basis. From lifestyle, health, workouts, diet, to relationships, mental health, and careers. When I look around me, I see a ton of good, but I also see so much potential for growth and how we can be our best self. For example, I came across this conversation with a client the other day regarding digestive issues. She told me that she’s bloated after eating, and most days has cramping/ gas....but it’s “normal” “doesn’t everyone experience gas/bloating?” This is a perfect example. I don’t know anything about cars BUT I DO know that If you were driving and noticed black smoke coming out of your muffler, and funny sounds...you would immediately think 🤔 something is wrong. Why do we consider it normal when it’s our bodies and our health? Could gas/bloating be a result of poor food combining, food sensitivities, lack of digestive enzymes etc.? Do you need more probiotic foods in your meal plan? You deserve to be your best self and live your best life. Take action, and learn more about yourself, learn what foods work well for you and which ones don’t. Just because some symptoms are “common” doesn’t make it “normal”. Aim for optimal health, not average. Sometimes you just need a pita sandwich! 🥙🥬🍅🥑🙌🏻 The main reason I started Intermittent Fasting is because of my work schedule. Shift work is not easy on the body and after much research I decided to give it a try so that I could consistently eat closer to a natural circadian rhythm. The day shifts were a bit more challenging than my days off because I was awake for work at 5am vs sleeping in a little. Last night was my first night shift and I extended my eating window from noon to midnight. I didn’t actually eat as much as I had planned and it was relatively easy to just drink water for the remainder of my shift. At 3am I hit a tired wall and felt hungry, but it quickly passed. I had a pretty decent sleep and I think part of that is 1) I was tired AF 🤣 2) I wasn’t digesting any food as that window of time had passed while I was awake. Naturally, I wake up from night shift by noon and that aligns perfectly with my noon eating start time. It's International Earth Day 🌎 and now more than ever we must not only create awareness, but take action when it comes to preserving our only home 🏡. . . Here are 5 simple tips I try to implement in my daily life in order to make smarter choices for our planet's sake: . . 1. Avoid plastic at all cost when grocery shopping (ie: choose fresh instead of pre-packaged, avoid plastic produce bags...). 🍅🍌🥬 . . 2. Keep reusable shopping bags in your car (or carry them with you) in order to avoid plastic bags as much as possible (you never know when an impromptu shopping spree/grocery stop might pop up!). 🛍 . . 3. Leave a plate/bowl + silverware in your office or pack them in your lunch box to avoid using plastic ones when eating on the go. (Oh and while we're on this, you wouldn't believe how much plastic waste can be avoided when cooking & packing your own meals! Just think about the bag, drinking cup, straw, container, cutlery, cup sleeve, and condiment cups that go into a pre-packed meal😫). 🥣🍽 . . 4. When getting take-out ask them to skip as many plastic elements as possible (straws & plastic cutlery are hardly necessary if you're eating at home. I know doing dishes sucks, but an ocean full of plastic sucks even more!).🚫🥤 . . 5. Carry your own water bottle EVERYWHERE. If there's one tip you're actually gonna apply, make it this one! It's not only better for the planet, but also for your budget and health (you wouldn't believe how many chemicals plastic bottles expel... into your drinking water). 🍶 . . Finding out that some plastic items take up to 1,000 years (that's ONE THOUSAND)😧 to decompose made me think twice about the amount of plastic I consume, and try to find out ways to cut down as much as possible!
