Yesterday I had the pleasure of giving a short wellness talk to @10to12businessclub in Henley at a venue overlooking the river (not too shabby a view!). As a networking club for professional women, most of whom run their own businesses I talked about the need for them to take care of their greatest asset - THEMSELVES.  It was great giving them a chance to review their own wellness, what's working and where they may need to focus, but also share some hints and tips for switching off and relaxing. Only by overcoming them can we achieve goals, dreams and reach our full potential. I’ve always been one to come out of my comfort zone and to take risks and I’m so glad I have as it’s got me to where I am today.  Spiders were one of the few irrational fears I had left so I took action! SELF CARE 🧘‍♀️ Something I try to practice whenever I get time at home, but normally miserably fail - mainly due to time. So when I saw that @tuiuk Sensatori offered health & fitness classes I was the first to sign up! On most days I have done yoga or Pilates either in the morning or evening on their well-being platform overlooking the sea. And I’ll tell you something, it really does make a difference to how relaxed I feel afterwards when you have the sound of the waves as background 🌊

Transitions through life..... I read somewhere that if we could let go with the grace and ease exhibited so beautifully by nature and the seasons we would live the live fully intended for us...but Man,  that can be hard..... To let go of all those curated ideas, longed for outcomes. To accept that Life, has her own plans for you, for precious loved ones, for each and everyone of us . We can’t control it, or say when these plans come into play. We either fight against it, tread water desperately trying to stay afloat or learn to swim along with it and be guided by the current. In all honesty that can be fu*#%ing hard and I’m trying desperately hard to find the grace in doing that but actually it feels more like the mother duck... serene on top, treading furiously beneath the surface. There’s nothing quite like getting sick to make you appreciate your health. 🙈 . A couple of days ago I got struck by gastro. It got me good. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Normally I dodge sickness that’s going around. I like to think I look after my health, my immune system is quite strong and it seems to keep me in good stead. .  Well not this time, and it knocked me for a six. I’m feeling much better now. On the mend. But I nearly feel it’s been a blessing in disguise (if there’s to be an upside to getting gastro?! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂🙊). It’s reminded me how blessed I am to have good health - most of the time when I don’t have gastro! 😉 . When you’re healthy and well most of the time, you can tend to take your health for granted. You forget how good it feels to be healthy because it becomes your norm. . Good health isn’t something to be taken for granted. It is so important. Your health requires your attention, and positive action. .  It blows my mind that so many people probably have no idea how good they could actually feel if they looked after their health and well-being... if they simply moved their body daily for at least 30 minutes (even if that’s just a walk)... if they drank more water... if they reduced their stress and did more thing that make them happy... if they ate more colourful fruit and veg... if they let go of toxic relationships... if they loved and embraced who they are and took pride in their health and well-being. . With the flu season upon us... please... value your health and well-being. 🙏🏼🧡 Without your health - your work, relationships, finances, leisure time, and how you show up in the world is all affected. . Doing our morning workout is something that we both really enjoy. The thrill of changing your shape, giving your best certainly has lots of payoffs.  Age is but a number though those grey whiskers might say a different story, or do they?  I feel it's more important to see people of my age in gyms and working out. Every employer in NZ should be teaming up with Gyms and getting their work force fit and healthy, the benefits certainly outweigh the negatives.  We are a nation that will continue to see health issues if society doesn’t change some habits. I have had people say to me that they have tried everything to lose the weight and deep down I cant help thinking that they haven't. First thing that comes to my mind is the movie Castaway. Get people on an island with limited resources and see how much weight those lose, hey even turn it into a TV reality show if you like, the simple thing we all need to know is no body is forcing food down your throat. #obrecipes (tap for tunes🎵): Acai Fig Cookie Bars 🍪 Such an awesome way to enjoy the fresh fig season and get glowing skin and a happy tummy!⠀⠀ -⠀⠀ 🍇@OrganicBurst Acai is bursting with both polyphenols and fat-soluble antioxidant Vitamin E that are amazing for a radiant glow.⠀⠀ 🍇Figs are a great source of potassium and fiber - helping in digestion.⠀⠀ 🍇Wonderful for both adults and children! 💖⠀⠀ -⠀⠀ INGREDIENTS⠀⠀ -⠀⠀ For the cookie:⠀⠀ 1.75 cups almond flour⠀⠀ 1.5 cups gluten-free oat flour⠀⠀ 1/3 cup rice malt syrup⠀⠀ 2 tablespoons coconut oil⠀⠀ 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice⠀⠀ -⠀⠀ For the fig filling:⠀⠀ 1 tablespoon @OrganicBurst Acai powder⠀⠀ 1.5 cups dried figs, soaked in warm water for 30 minutes⠀⠀ 1/4 cup water⠀⠀ 1 tablespoon fresh squeezed orange juice⠀⠀ 1 tablespoon rice malt syrup⠀⠀ 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder⠀⠀ -⠀⠀ METHOD⠀⠀ 1. Make your cookie crust. First, pulse the almond and oat flours in a food processor.⠀⠀ 2. Next, add the coconut oil, rice malt syrup and orange juice. Blend until the mixture forms a ball.⠀⠀ 3. Place your cookie mixture on a wax paper. Roll into a long rectangle. Refrigerate.⠀⠀ 4. Make your fig filling. Drain the figs and place all ingredients in a food processor. Blend until almost smooth, but still a little chunky.⠀⠀ 5. Remove the cookie crust from the refrigerator and cut in half.⠀⠀ 6. Divide the filling, spreading it equally on the two halves of the cookie crust.⠀⠀ 7. Roll up the cookie crust and freeze for at least 2 hours.⠀⠀ 8. I spy with my little eye, a freshly stocked fridge 😆 Today I did my first proper grocery shop since living in Melbourne and I am beyond excited. I simply love making recipes that are jam packed with nutrients for my body, however since I have been living out of a suitcase for the last six or so weeks I have been a bit restricted! To say that I was jumping with joy today to finally be able to stock up my new fridge is an understatement. Melbourne is filled with an abundance of foods, especially when it comes to plant foods so I have stocked up and will be bringing some delicious Plant Based recipes to you all within the next week. Also a little side note... I usually purchase almost double the amount you see here to get me through the week (For myself and my partner Matt also when he stays over) but I am attending a farmers market over the weekend which I am super excited about, so I figured I'd better save some room for what I find there also 🙌🏻
