Banana cream doughnut from @crosstowndoughnuts , although it’s a vegan recipe, we shall judge this as we would any other doughnut as we believe all desserts deserve a fair trial. From the horse’s mouth: “A winning combination of sweet, silky, fresh banana custard filling encased in Crosstown’s light and fluffy chocolate sourdough. We then top it all off with a generous swirl of sea salt caramel and a home made chocolate soil.” The combination was indeed winning, the dough could have been fluffier than described, it was a little dry in places but not enough to make it unpleasant. The soil was both crumbly and moist, bringing a slightly darker chocolate element to the table. Although we couldn’t say for sure the icing was salted caramel it was definitely delicious. The main event was the filling, it was thick and smooth with a strong banana custard flavour and there was plenty of it, even having halved the doughnut. The dough had the look and taste of a wholemeal dough (which I personally don’t mind). Perhaps it could have been a little sweeter and definitely softer but we’ve come to expect this depending on the time you buy them. Overall though, a delicious treat, we shall be returning for the peanut butter flavour.

The Santa Maria Grilled Oyster Blade was grilled to perfection with green peppercorn sauce, French fries, and garden greens. Full of juice and flavor. The Catch of the Day was a pleasant dish in a citrus tomato emulsion, Idaho potato puree, and sautéed organic vegetables.
