Today was a doozie 😅 . I’m not sure what’s been up, but I’ve fallen out of my groove over the last few days?! 😳 . I feel pretty motivated, but little things keep popping up; knee flare-ups, side stitches, missing morning runs and having to opt for workouts in the boiling heat of the late afternoon, and finally, probably the worst blister I’ve ever had throughout my running career (lol, tmi sorry y’all) 😂😬 . But all of these obstacles haven’t put me in the corner. I got out there today and made SOMETHING happen! It was slow and I had to stop a lot but it happened nonetheless! 🤷🏼♀️ . Running is always teaching me life lessons, and today that lesson was it’s okay to struggle and to slow down, but it’s not okay to give up. And I don’t plan to 😉 . 3.71 ugly lookin’ miles today @ 9:41 avg. During the last 2 miles, I asked myself, “Why are you doing this to yourself?” Hahaha. But in the end, it was worth it. Not a stellar time, and tbh, that wasn’t the point. I’m on a Novice training plan by Hal Higdon, practicing the pose method, and integrating Yoga into my routine. June keeps getting closer and closer, and I can’t wait for those brisk spring mornings in Chicago, to get out by the lake for those long ones > 13.1. "In order to run fast, you need to run slow first..." Been neglecting the so called "Steady State" and the boring LISS for the past few months because I love the rush of going fast, run fast and everything around it. But to maximize conditioning and endurance is necessary and it's the only way to be an all around and not having heart rate jump/skip zones after body is warmed up. Last year I completed the #halfmarathon @gozwiftrun #structuredworkout program and helped me immensely with my run. After few months of delaying it, today just picked up the #5k#recordbreaker @gozwift #gozwiftrun. Day 1 got me jogging at 5.3mph speeds, where my @strydrunning #runwithpower zones were 100% at Z1 but #heartrate were at Z2 with slight peak at Z3. The idea is to match both properly. Meus primeiros 21k . . Com atraso pra recuperar e pensar, sem fotos glamourosas, com muita ansiedade, com direito a quebra e a atingir a meta. Muita coisa. . . Até o km 15 me senti voando, admirando a paisagem, batendo palmas e incentivando corredores... Lembrei muitas vezes da frase do @prettocaio “aproveita que 21k é a melhor distância”. Até os 15 nada me soava tão real. . . O km 16 foi de um enjoo, um peso, quase incontrolavel no km seguinte. E nos 17 e 18, meu almoço insistia em participar da corrida tb. Cheguei a pensar que devia ser só cansaço, mas ainda tinha forças de sobra. Ansiedade, mas tava tão feliz naquele lugar mágico. Faltou organização pra cumprir as metas com calma... . . Os km 19 e 20 provaram isso. Parei. Não deu. Não achei que um dia fosse parar em prova. Mas parei. Era eu, meu almoço, e uma força que nessa hora já parecia inútil. Muito difícil retomar. . . Mas na corrida a vida é diferente... Passou um, dois, o terceiro que chamou disse pra eu seguir que eu tava indo muito bem, que ele não seguiria sem mim... Já chorando, pensei que tinha que retomar. E fui. . . Ninguém disse que seria fácil. Cruzei a linha de chegada em 2:06:17, sexto lugar na categoria. Ninguém disse que seria fácil, mas desistir nao tá no plano. . . A linha de chegada me fez mais forte, mais atleta. Me fez perceber que tudo bem se não foi o ideal. Foi bem também. E tudo bem se as vezes a gente quebrar, pq sempre tem alguém pra ajudar a juntar os cacos. E se deu ruim, a gente refaz, repensa, e recomeça! . . 2:06:17 - EU SOU MEIA MARATONISTA! Had such a blast running my first 1/2 marathon yesterday!! Without any training, and with less than 3 hours of sleep (thank you Dom for having the most awesome birthday celebration the night before - I love you roomie! @mocha_rache ) I’m actually pretty stoked with my results!! 35th female in my age group out of 210. And a time of 1:47:45. Maybe next time I’ll train for it, and get a couple more hours of sleep!! 😝😴🤪
