It isn’t much of a sunset, but it’s the first spring day I ended in the garden. The raspberries and fruit trees are starting to bud, the rhubarb is peeking out of the soil and the rosemary is growing fresh green leaves. Things are happening. ❤️🌱🌅 . . . . . . #garden#gardengram#growyourownfood#diy#spring#sunset#idahome
Starting to see the lettuce come up. These tasty little organic goodies are going to be going into salads the second they're ready to harvest. Seeing all of my seeds begin to sprout, I'm finally starting to feel like spring is here despite it still being freezing cold!
One of our favorite vegetables to grow right here peeking out of the soil. Rhubarb. I don't know, maybe we like it so much because we are lazy? It's one of the few perennial vegetable crops, that means it comes back every year for you without having to replant it in the spring. Maybe it's because it has no pests, doesn't need supplemental water and it gets ginormous! This little plant will be 2-3 ft in diameter and gorgeous when fully out. Maybe it's because you can divide this plant and give it away to friends (don't buy rhubarb at a store). This particular rhubarb was transplanted from the mantis owner's wife's ancestral farm in Indianola, Iowa and brought to Asheville to grow. Get you some! . . . #mantisgardensinc#rhubarb#perennials #perennial#iowa#growfoodnotlawns #growyourownfood#growmyownfood#growyourownveggies#heirloom# #heirloomvegetables#familyfarm

Be aware. Repost from @sustainabledish - Yesterday, @mindbodygreen posted this and I am just pointing out how frustrated I am with this narrative. Instead of resource-intensive nut/plant milks, drink your coffee black or with good cream from a cow that ate grass. Instead of a veggie burger, have a burger with meat from a cow that ate grass. Instead of a meatless day, try a “better meat” day. And if you can’t afford better meat right now, even typical beef is better for you than a highly processed fake veggie burger. Oh, and fake leather is plastic folks. There are better and worse ways to produce plants AND animals, and saying that plants are more pure than eating meat, with no reference to HOW the food is produced, is not helping to build a better system. Let’s dig just a little deeper, have a more nuanced look at things, and change this “meat is bad” narrative. #itsthehow#sustainable#nutrition#polution#eatmeat#grassfed#knowthesource#minimizewaste#eatlocal#eattiptotail#growyourownfood
Sayur bening kurang lengkap tanpa kemangi. #regrow#basil#kemangi#sayur#sayuran#vegetables#kitchenscraps#growyourownfood#growsomethinggreen#gardening#gardeningathome#growwhatyoueat#eatwhatyougrow#berkebun#berkebundirumah#organicgardening
You know what I have recovered from under the melted snow? Old earlier disposed Christmas tree! 😂 Why did I keep it in my yard? Because, you know, if you had a real Christmas tree, instead of recycling, you cut it up and use the branches as a mulch to shelter low-growing #edibles . You will find the usage for the tree trunk too, just remind yourself that all what the #mothernature produced will naturally find it's place back home - within the nature.
Dulunya cuman seiprit. Sekarang sudah jadi 2 pot. Semoga makin subur. 🌱🌱🌱
You know it’s a good day when your hands end up looking like this! Yesterday we planted some of the bigger seedlings we grew from seeds. Today I promised the kids they could pick out a plant at Lowe’s to put in the garden. (I may have found a few too.... it’s worse than chicken math 🤣😆) Today is “Cleaning Up” for #gettoknowahomesteader and that is the biggest chore around here!! There’s the usual, typical housework, but on top of that there’s lots and lots of dirt and mud, and other things that resemble mud.... 😂 Cleaning up is a never ending battle!! #homesteading#homesteaders#gardening#texasgardening#zone8a#playinthedirt#cleaningup#planting#growyourownfood @gooseberrybridgefarm @the_hillside_homestead @atablefullinthewoods @moderndaysoldways
Spring has definitely arrived and her influence is amazing! Our tomato plant is already well on its way to produce a bumper crop of fruit. The scent of the leaves brings me back to memories of gardening with my grandpa as kid in NJ. I love that I get to share my love of plants and gardening with my daughter and pass down a tradition that has been a part of my family for generations. #kidshealthandwellness#garden#growyourownfood#iinhealthcoach#spring
