March 23 We got up and started moving pretty quickly. The sky was overcast and rain was predicted. We paddled throughout the day through brief showers and a few strong wind gust fronts. We stopped at the Tyler Bend visitor center, to stock back up on drinking water, and buy some stickers. It was nice to move around for a while. There are a couple interesting features after Grinders Ferry including some old railroad bridge piers, Shine Eye Bluff, and Long Bottom Bluff. Even though it was overcast and misting the natural landmarks here were very cool. There are also random monster truck size boulders in the water to paddle up to and around. One of the coolest things that we witnessed was a bald eagle trying to get it's talons on an elusive duck. The eagle had nothing on the ducks ability to dive. We watched as the eagle dive bombed at the duck multiple times while the duck just popped under water whenever it got too close. The eagle ultimately gave up allowing the duck to continue his swim in peace. Around Red Bluff we saw a herd of deer move by, and the river otters were out and in action as well. The river water both days was clear, showing off all of the fish swimming. We ended up camping around 2 miles down river of the old bridge piers. There was ash falling in this place from nearby NPS burns I assume. We had plenty of daylight left when we began looking for a camp site, so we could afford to be picky, and we chose a good one. It was one of the best nights sleep I've probably ever had on the Buffalo. There were multiple rain showers moving down river, but we all stayed warm and dry. The key to staying comfortable in just about anything mother nature throws at you is planning weeks ahead for water flow, air and water temperatures. That, and watching the predicted forecast. #buffalonationalriver#halagear#adventuredesigned#whitewaterdesigned#halagearsup#designadventurebetter#sup#suplife#standuppaddleboarding#standuppaddleboard#standuppaddle

To get really high is forget yourself and to forget yourself is to see everything everything else and to see everything else is to become an understanding molecule in evaluation, a conscious tool of the universe.
Today's fun at Little Birdwings. Such diverse experiences! Yes that is a handful of fresh slippery slimy pond weed at the end. Just before we threw it at each other. 😆💦🌿 To join our group go to our website www.birdwingsnature.wordpress.com
