Please checkout this photo essay from my recent Capture Humanity project for the Out on a Limb Foundation. It’s very inspiring. http://www.matildesimas.com/blog-post/haitis-healthcare-nicole-grehn&ts=218201971825628 The essay follows, @Nicole Grehn, a RN from the US and Limb Kind Foundation Motivational Amputee Mentor as she joins Mission Of Hope’s Medical Outreach Program into village communities, in Haiti, to check vital signs and distribute medication. Nicole's story continues as she works with the local community at the Mission of Hope healthcare center. The series follows her further, as she demonstrates to the children of Haiti, with limb loss, that nothing should stand in their way from succeeding. #haiti#thegratefuleight#capturehumanity#limbkind#changemakers#bekind#giveback#documentaryphotography#documentaryfilm
It’s a holiday here in Ontario called Family Day. A day to celebrate the ones you call family. I love that this is a holiday! So it seemed fitting to share a photo of my beautiful niece laughing and enjoying life. Looking forward to her coming over today to do more of just that! However you spend your day - may you enjoy laughter and fun with the ones you love. (And this beautiful necklace she has on is on clearance - woo hoo!)
Our team had a blast yesterday supporting local education through the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. Their Twins & Pinz event helps raise money for our local education foundation and we were proud to participate! The Chamber has granted over $30,000 to teachers and Educational non-profits in our area for school programs during the past year and a total of over $650,000 for education since the inception of the Foundation in 1990. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, while still helping build our local community. #givelocal#livelocal#charity#chamber#education#giveback

Me and @samlong87 said we were going to come back to our neighborhood and give back once we heard the little girl was shot we wanted to take action. We want to show the youth that we care. We don’t want to make our first million then giveback. We are going to do it now so once success does come then we will really spread our wings. This Saturday from 8 to 4pm we partnered with the @thekeratinbarbercollege to giveaway 100 free haircuts and 100 dress ties. We will also be teaching the community how to tie ties that day. Things have been challenging around here. When you go through major loss, health issues, or other complicated family experiences, it changes you. Sometimes for the better. Thinking and perspective taking will always win over judgement. Doing good always makes you feel good. It can get you through the worst of your days. #onehopewine#giveback#griefsucks#loveyouianni#smileeveryday#staypositive
A recognition that turned into a t-shirt idea would launch a movement that would catapult Leonora Miller to inspire others to make a change in their life, family and community. We invite you to actively participate in “be the Change” weekend as we continue making a positive difference. Individually we can "be the Change" – together we can positively impact the world! #bethechange#empowerment#community#giveback#payitforward#family
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT @mohammadaliilahi | @cornelluniversity NY | Pakistan. This interaction with refugees of such diverse age groups from over a dozen countries was a very insightful and humbling experience. The refugees, I came across some of the most intelligent and smart people, who just seemed to have been unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It taught me a lot about our bubble of privilege, which in reality is just based on our accident of birth. It also helped me empathize with the refugees, as I tried to put myself in the same shoes as those affected, and was left in awe by their resilience and steadfastness. #giveback#vulonteer#refugeegr#refugees#humanitycrew#syria#athens#children#mentalhealthmatters
The biggest realisation I have had in Africa is that we have a huge variety of job opportunities readily available for us. Whether you agree with me or not in Australia, Europe, most countries in the world there is a job you can do that gives you ok money. Whether or not you are willing to move to take the job is another question. In Africa, the reality is. Even if you have the education you are very fortunate if you get a job that pays the rent and gives you extra pocket money let alone enough to travel accords the boarder to the next country. . My time in Africa has been short, I have learnt so much and I will never second guess how fortunate we are to have a minimal wage that pays for everything I need. . I hope one day this reality changes for everyone struggling 🙏🙌 . #chloehorrexint#thankyoukenya#kenya#mombasa#travel#charity#kids#orphanage#giveback#children#summer
DONATION: My dad is the man who makes something out of nothing. He is one of the bravest, most intelligent and creative people I know. After traveling around the world helping people, he is now back where his life began to help his community. In collaboration with the people there, they are building a school for the future engineers (as he is one himself). It is not an organization, these are individuals who came together to give back. Him and I, would really appreciate anyone willing to donate to this project. DM or email me for more info. _____________________________ #buildingafrica#africa#charity#giveback#community#growth#education#donation#project#burundi

Meet Maya, a four-year-old from California, who recently received a pair of eyeglasses from New Eyes, as part of our U.S. voucher program. The average cost of eyeglasses in the United States is $200, a price that is out of reach for many families and individuals, who struggle every day with poor vision. Lack of clear vision can negatively impact work productivity, self-confidence in the classroom and overall well-being. New Eyes purchases prescription eyeglasses through a voucher program for children and adults who cannot afford glasses on their own. Applicants must have an eye exam before applying. Thank you to the social service agencies, school nurses and others we partner with every day to make clear vision a reality for so many children, families and individuals across the U.S.! For more information on our U.S. voucher program, and how to donate, visit our website (see link in bio). #causes#4charity#change#nonprofits#socialgood#giveback#charity#community#support#instagood#edchat#earlyed#k12
Today on the Lowth Center Entrepreneur series we're featuring a social entrepreneur, UT student and Accelerator Company, Ray Mohler from Little Saint Nick Foundation.⠀ .⠀ Here are our favorites from his interview:⠀ .⠀ what problem does your company solve?⠀ “The Little Saint Nick Foundation not only helps kids in hospitals deal with their pain, fear, and isolation, but we inspire kids in the communities we work in to give back to those kids in need. We are teaching kids critical values at ages as young as four years old and to help them understand the importance of service to others, while at the same time helping hundreds of kids in hospitals every month, creating a movement of "kids inspiring and helping kids" that has never been seen before.”⠀ .⠀ why did you start this company?⠀ “I started the Little Saint Nick Foundation when I was six years old due to a traumatic hospital experience I had. When I was four, I was in the emergency department for about eight hours with nothing to do but worry about what could possibly be wrong with me. It was a scary experience for not only myself but for my parents too. Luckily, I had a hip joint disease that I was able to deal with outside of the hospital and that I don't have to worry about today. However, I couldn't imagine being in the hospital any longer than I was, so I felt a need to give back to the sick kids I left behind.”⠀ .⠀ what's your favorite quote?⠀ "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth"- Muhammad Ali⠀ .⠀ what advice would you give to another entrepreneur?⠀ “Do not forget why you started to do what you do. Passion is what drives entrepreneurs and once you loose that everyone who is around you can feel it and they will loose their inspiration that you gave them.”⠀ .⠀ #entrepreneur#entrepreneurship#giveback#socialentrepreneurship#nonprofit
