Officially a real powerlifter with a 325kg meet PR 😂. Weighed in at a svelte 65 in the 72 class (praise the non-cut life) and officially went 8/9, but 9/9 in my heart. Placed a very very distant 4/10 behind @meatycorman @noelia.cilli and @jmosery (so strong!). On to the videos! . Squat// 1️⃣ 2nd: 117.5/259. Gym PR match 2️⃣ 3rd: 122.5/270. Called for depth 💔 . Bench// 3️⃣ 3rd: 65/143 Not the fastest but also not the slowest I’ve ever hit this 😂 (PR match, legit bodyweight ) . Deadlift// 4️⃣ 142.5/314.2lb (5kg PR!) You can see how I never actually got my back tight 😂 Still super thrilled to pull this at my first meet! . Thank you so much for everyone who came out to support. I feel like I’ve been relying on my belt and sleeves to boost my lifts, so I’ve started working on sets with and without them to compare how it feels. Old news: my lifts look and feel like booboo without them. 😭 . Things to work on: 🔺keeping back/neck neutral 🔺locking upper back 🔺hip mobility 🔺core and glute activation 🔺slower, controlled reps . Five years and lots of ups and downs between pics (not mad about those leg day gains though 😛) Your body is an investment.. Any GOOD investment takes time and patience. Don't give up just because you aren't seeing the results quickly or you had a bad day eating or missed a workout. Guess what sets winners apart from losers? The ones who don't let minor setbacks become major setbacks. The ones who see the minor setbacks as an opportunity to learn and grow.. then you move on. You keep going because your goals are more important to you than your excuses. If you are blessed with an able body don't take advantage of it.. Make goals and crush 'em! 👊🏼
A couple squat PRs 87.5kgx10 and 117.5kg for one. I am doing a pretty good job of moving weight up and down in one plane of movement. Please do not ask me to help lift anything that isn't barbell shaped. 20th sets of squats today, this is the last 👆🏼😅💦💦 why does my face get tomato after 1 rep when I can do 7? 🤷🏼♀️😂 @ 110kg 😊 at the beginning of my workout everything felt heavy, I have change my stance some lately and I don’t think I’m really used to it but after 10 sets it started to feel better so I just couldn’t stop 😂👌🏼 usually I think 10 is enough 🙄😁
💥Nationals bound 💪🏽💥 • Yesterday and today are days filled with so many emotions. So I apologize for the delay in posting & thank you for all who reached out asking (Plus I woke up so sick🤒) • I signed up for this meet to motivate me to get back to lifting after my father passed. He would be so happy with 🥈🥉This has been the hardest emotionally and physically to prepare for, 15weeks ago I could barely walk without agony. • @nthomas90 says I deserve all the glory for yesterday but being on the other end as a Clinician, I know all the work he puts in, Coach WE DID IT‼️ He was so detailed down to when I should eat/drink/pee😂 This was a team effort, he and @barbellsandcats have created such a wonderful team environment and I’m honored to be a part of it. • I wanted to go ham! All the weight and if I die, I die🤷🏻♀️. He had a bigger plan, qualify for Nationals as a Masters. Getting me to sign up as a Masters was a fight in itself. I’m Latina and we don’t age 😂💃🏻. • Highlights: 9/9 ⚪️⚪️⚪️ on all lifts 😳🙌🏽 S 135/298 B 80/176 (🎉PR)- NYS Record M1 84 (thanks Davi for that info). I thought I would go over my bench set-up since I get questions about it a lot!! This is what works for me. You might need to play around with your own to find what feels right, but here are a few of the main cues I'm focusing on when setting up: . . ✴Use something (I use the bar some people use the rack) to help get up as high on the traps as possible. Keeping my feet up also helps to get in to that position. . . ✴Retract and depress shoulder blades. I think about trying to walk my shoulders as far down on the bench as I can without moving my head. Basically elongating my neck. . . ✴Place feet down under hips and contract quads to push back towards the bar (my shoulders are set in place though so I don't actually slide back.) . . ✴Set your grip on the bar and unrack with butt off the bench to keep shoulders in place. . . ✴Take a breath, brace abs and glutes while squeezing quads to push the body back down the bench (again shoulders are set so you won't actually slide back but this is tightness against the bench we want to help drive the bar back to the rack during the actual press.) . . That's basically it! I realized I rambled a lot. This was harder than I thought to actually type out! 315lbs for triples & doubles. . Only supposed to do a single today. But it felt good so I attempted a double. Which also felt pretty good so I went for triples. 😬😬😬 Not too long ago I was sooo scared to try things, scared of failing. But I’m realizing that it’s through the process of taking risks that you may actually find success. I wouldn’t know that I was capable of more than a single if I never allowed myself to just try. I’ve failed plenty of times in the gym I’m used to it by now. I’ve cried in the gym on multiple occasions, because I am big baby and take things so seriously. . But any who yayyy!!! I got a set of triples. Lol.
