✖️Movement Monday: Face Pulls✖️ There’s a handful of exercises I think EVERYONE should have in their training routines. Face pulls is one of those exercises. Here’s a brief scientific/practical breakdown of why: . . . The rear delt is a relatively small muscle that often gets overlooked by newbie and intermediate lifters. However, despite being a small muscle, they are extremely important for posture in addition to aesthetically balancing out the shoulders. • The rear delt’s job is to pull the shoulder back into its neutral position. When the rear delts are weak, the front delts become disproportionately overpowering and the shoulders become internally rotated (commonly called “rounded shoulders”). This not only looks bad, but it affects our ability to breath deeply and can lead to shoulder injuries down the road. • That all being said, this is an exercise that form is much more important than going heavy. its a simple movement, but you want to keep your core engaged throughout the motion and bring the rope as far back toward your ears as you can/really squeeze during the contraction. If you don’t have a cable, you could use bands or even a bungee cord with a towel if you want to get creative! (If you smack yourself in the face with it though, I didn’t recommend that😅😂) . . .
