Some of you may already know this from my stories. But here goes. . Teaching yoga was definitely what I always wanted to do after years practicing but I always felt I wasn’t good enough to either teach, or wasn’t even good enough in my own practice. I mustered up the courage to take my 200H with the intention that I will be a teacher that will always teach my heart out, and everyone should leave my class knowing that the practice is all that matters and we’re all in our own journey and I will be there to guide them to whatever:wherever they need to be. . . This is my 6th year teaching, in which every single class I taught, I walk in telling myself to put my students first and focus on their path and journey. Watching everyone grow makes me reflect on my own teaching and practice. I always ask myself, what should I know in order for me to help my students. With that question in mind, and also a yearning to deepen my spiritual practice, I signed up to obtain my 500H RYT certification with the intention of evolving myself to the next level. This is considerably the boldest decision I’ve made in my life so far, in which the thought of it still scares me a little as I’m not sure what to expect and what will happen. But at the same time, my heart is excited and ready to embrace what is yet to come. I promise, to take the learnings and return, not just certified 500RYT, but also as a teacher that could further help your growth and practice, whichever stage you are in. . . That said, I will be away in May to mid June, during these period my classes will be replaced by amazing and wonderful teachers. Thank you for all the encouragement and support so far, especially those that Dm-Ed me and responded to me. So I’m still working on my drop backs so that my landings aren’t so rough.... I’ll get there eventually 😂😂😂 but I’m just happy with how deep I was able to get into a backbend. I started yoga because I thought it was pretty. . I started following all the big yogi accounts and watching youtube videos. I thought I could do those awesome poses right out of the gate, I couldn't 😄 . After awhile I started noticing how some of the yogis would say that yoga had helped them manage pain. So I started looking more into it. I took beginners courses and started to notice over time it wasnt so hard anymore, I was getting more flexible and my headaches weren't as bad. So I went all in. . The more time I spent on my mat and learning about it the more I loved this practice. My mat did not care if I couldn't do something. My mat only wanted me to show up and let it all go while I was there. . Yoga is so much more then people think it is. It's a lifestyle, it's a mindset. The poses have more meaning then just stretching. . I've been on this journey for 5 years and I'll be on it for the rest of my life ✌✌

Do you stretch? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Never....? . 🤸♂Stretching is super important and should be part of EVERY workout routine for a whole host of reasons. . Here are 6 we recommend doing post workout. It's easy to neglect stretching as it's not instantly rewarding unlike exercise. However, it does play a crucial role in the longevity of working out 💪 . So get yourself a stopwatch and at the end of the next workout perform each exercise for 60 seconds (30 each on single leg ones). . ⭐️Stretch Out In Triangle⭐️ . 👍Benefits of Triangle: 1. Stretches and strengthens legs, ankles, knees, hips 2. Lubricates and strengthens spine 3.Stimulates function of abdominal organs and improves digestion 4.Relieves stress and increases focus . 🚫Common Mistakes: 1. Feet and hands floppy and unengaged . 2. Forcing hand to floor, compromising spine, and collapsed side body . 3. Forcing gaze to ceiling and taking around ears, chin sticking out, cervical spine compressed . 4. Tucking tail bone and thrusting floating ribs. . 🤘How to fix triangle: 1) FEET ARE KEY: Root down heavily through the ball of the big toe on your front foot, and from there lengthen up through the inner thigh. Shift front leg hip crease back only as far as you can keep the pressure in the big toe mound. If you really root down through the big toe you will notice your outer hip and glute strengthen. This engagement protects the ankle (I injured my ankle in triangle when I first started practicing) and opens the leg with more integrity and strength. . 2) Root back foot into floor, strengthen back inner thigh, and inner spiral inner thigh towards wall behind you. . 3) Grab a block and place it under your hand to keep spine long. Without thrusting ribs, tucking tailbone, or throwing head back, gently spiral entire length of the spine open. . 4) SIDE BODY LONG: both side bodies should be moving towards the same length. That means that the side body that is facing the floor should be long and extending, not collapsed and short. . have you ever missed something only because you couldn’t do it anymore? that’s me with backbends right now, while my wonky rib takes its sweet time getting back with the program. it’s not even like i particularly enjoy or am terrific at backbends. but now i’m all, “oh backbends, sweet backbends, shall we ever be together again?” 💘 while wistfully ogling this pic of #wildthingpose from a few short weeks ago. I'm kinda begrudgingly back on fb. But one thing I do enjoy about being back on is the pictures of previous adventures. I 💗 paddleboarding. Paddleboard yoga was definitely the least seriously I've taken my practice and a tremendous amount of fun. Reminiscing about this experience reminds me to lighten up and enjoy the journey, just a little bit more. 💖🦋💖
Well this is a rare sighting! I am like the least bendy person ever (shocker I never rest or recover properly) Not only do I not like stretching myself, but I find myself rushing at the gym, and me being me would rather get another set in than give myself 5 min to do this BUT today is a pretty leisure day - I will eventually start studying, howevaaa took a few mins post leg day to try and stretch out my mangled body - waaaat I actually feel better physically and mentally lol I keep preaching about this but I don’t do it myself!!! Never in a million years did I ever think I’d be able to do the splits... I mean, I couldn’t even touch my toes when I started yoga 4 years ago 🤷♀️ If I had a £ (or a $) for every time someone told me they’d ‘never be able to do that’ or I’m not flexible enough to go to a yoga class (Aaaargh! That’s WHY you go to yoga! 🤦♀️) I’d be a very rich lady 😅 Honestly, if I, the most uncoordinated person on the planet, can get somewhere just by getting on my mat & practicing everyday, then so can anyone else. And don’t forget, it doesn’t actually matter if you can ever do the splits or not. It’s what you learn about yourself on the way that really matters. .
