I always felt I walked on the edge of a knife. On this knife I might fall off on either side. But I’d walk it again. So what. So what if you do fall off? I’d rather be doing something I really wanted to do. — Georgia O’Keeffe
"Alegoría de Georgia O' Keeffe". Óleo sobre tabla Estas tres pinturas pertenecen a la colección de varias pinturas inspiradas en la artista estadounidense. Cada una de ellas tiene un significado para mí, pero a cada uno le puede hacer sentir de diferentes maneras. #georgiaokeeffe#art#paintings#emotions#pinturas#oleo
A while back I bought a new laptop and gave away my old iMac. I backed up thousands of photos onto an external hard drive and kind of forgot about them. Now that I’ve remembered I’m in the process of reviewing all of them and have found a few that I really love either because of the technical aspects of them or because they remind me of something wonderful. That’s the case here. This photo is from Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, where Georgia O’Keeffe lived. I have quite a few from there because it’s such an amazing place that’s filled with natural beauty and glorious energy. I think this was taken a few days after @lac78 and I got married. There are quite a few photos from around that time (and area) in my collection, so brace yourselves for an Instagram photo dump of blue skies and red clay . . .

“It is a kind of thing that I do that makes me feel I am going off into space – in a way that I like – and that frightens me a little because it is so unlike what anyone else is doing – I always feel that sometime I may fall off the edge – it is something I like so much to do that I don’t care if I do fall off the edge.” - "Pelvis with the distance" Georgia O'Keeffe 1934 #same#freethepelvis
Georgia at her table, October 5th, 1962 Todd met Georgia O’Keeffe in 1943 at Alfred Stieglitz’s gallery ‘An American Place’. He had dropped off some prints there the previous day and returned to find them propped up on Georgia’s desk with her studying them intently. Their friendship solidified after Stieglitz’s death in 1946 when he helped Georgia prepare for her show at MoMA and made installation shots of the exhibit. Later on — during Todd’s walk across America in 1955 — he stayed with Georgia for several weeks on his way through New Mexico. When Todd and his wife Lucille began to grow tired of living in New York, Georgia convinced them to move to Santa Fe in 1961. It was during those years that Todd taught Georgia how to photograph, spending countless days together in Abiquiu and out at Ghost Ranch. For the next several months we’ll be posting images and anecdotes that illustrate this lifelong friendship between two great artists. . . . . . #photography#picoftheday#silvergelatin#latergram#photocollector#toddwebb#documentary#blackandwhite#filmisnotdead#bnw#modernism#georgiaokeeffe
