Yo. 50 cent. Something I thought about this morning. Most #hiphop that comes out from the #westcoast, not all is like from suburban college rich kids who are semi-talented(most). In NYC though, for some damn reason, you could drop out of school, be a legitimate crack dealer, go to prison, be an active gang member and still quit all that, drop a multi-platinum Album and be a legitimate businessman by 40. Its crazy y'all. Its a different world on the east coast. The late 90s and even until today is full of these rapper mansions. There's rich and then there's Curtis Jackson or even Russel Simmons rich ya know. I dont know how these people do this stuff man. I want to be rich like that. Really. Lol.
Ice Cube - Everythangs Corrupt (2018) Lyicism C+ Beats/production A- Flows B Delivery A Content B Creativity B- Replay Value A ° It's been nearly a decade since his last release. Arguably in the early 2000s his priorities turned more into acting in family comedies than rapping. Still, when I seen Ice Cube is realeasing an album 2018, my ears couldn't help but perk up. This album is a very nice breath of fresh air. Ironically it's a bit or throwback sound. The best part about the album for me is probably the beats. It's not surprising, as Fredwreck is a part of the production. He's previously produced for Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Xzibit as well. DJ Pooh also produced one of my favourite tracks on the album, "Ain't Got No Haters". Some people may think the beats sound a bit outdated, and they'd be right; but there's nothing wrong with that. I personally love Ice Cube staying true to fourm and not feeling the need to appeal to a new generation. Ice Cube pronounces every syllable he says with an extra bit of emphasis. He's pretty much done that his whole career. It keeps the music more interesting to the listener and also makes what he says more impactful. Ice Cube's Punchy- aggressive delivery, and catchy flow over these the strong production is what makes the album so enjoyable. The lyricism aspect of the album is where it loses some points. He often uses just simple AB rhyme schemes without going too in depth with wordplay or other poetic devices. It's fine enough. At least there's nothing I can say was cringe worthy or just dumb. The song "On Them Pills" is pretty skippable track. He doesn't really add much to the conversation. He basically just tells us that people do pills and pills are bad over a hard beat for about 4 minutes. Overall this is a very solid to great album. I love the high energy G funk and aggressive 90s vibes this album brings. The simplistic lyicism and surface level content brings the grade down some. However I'd be lying if I said I'm
