✨Sledgehammer therapy should totally be a thing. ⚒ 😍 Demo-ed some old cabinets that were in our garage when we bought the house today, and it was fun! ✨If you’re asking “why tf is this on a gym page?” ...The answer is because the reason it was fun was because it was easy. ✨Swinging a sledgehammer didn’t feel foreign or heavy, because I’m strong. 💪🏼People tend to think working out is solely for how you look...wrong! ❌ ✨Being fit and strong literally makes life easier. 💥💥 Seated Machine Rows 💥💥 Seated Machine Rows are one of my favorite machine back exercises, and it's great for getting a unique strength-forward lower lat stretch. · I like to stretch the lower lat into the movement, the weight drawing your upper body forward into a stretch, and then explosively driving into a deep lat contraction. Open your body up! · The momentum allows you to hold and stabilize the weight in your lats deeper than something like a pull-up could ever achieve. · Do these for 3-5 sets, quick alternation between sides; it's an active exercise. Well we wrapped up the 2019 Open with a bang on Friday. Thanks to everyone for coming out and showin’ up for that one! That was a workout that tested the mind even more than the body. We had some outstanding performances once again. Great job to Natatie and Nathalie on those chest to bar pull ups. We had a few of you participating in your very first Crossfit Open, congrats it only gets better 😀 Thanks for all the delicious food and drinks you guys are the best! It is always a rewarding time when we can celebrate all the hard work with our friends in fitness.  For this weeks overview of March 25th through 30th 2019, we start off Monday off with “Wall-E”, an AMRAP style workout consisting of Single Arm Dumbbell Push Press, Double Unders and Wallballs. Tuesday look forward to practicing Snatch technique before completing “Inner Tube” which consists of Power Snatches, Toes to Bar and Burpees. On Wednesday we see a workout with three AMRAP 5’s and 5 minutes of rest between. In this session called “Dead Broke” there is a Rowing buy in; directly into Deadlifts and Box Jump Overs in the remaining time. Then Thursday’s workout might give you “Helmet Hair” working on Handstand, Pullups, walking Lunges and Situps. For Friday, “Macho Mile” is on deck. There will be running and rounds of “Macho Man” complex (1 Round of Macho Man is 3 Power Cleans, 3 Front Squats and 3 Push Jerks). Finally on Saturday we finish the week out in teams of 3 completing an AMRAP of Assault Bike, Dumbbell Snatches, Double Unders and Rope Climbs called “Rope-a-Dope”. Rope climbs are awesome, rope climbs with a weighted vest, awful and awesome awesome. Relational tug of wars that take all of your energy and never yield a result,  total waste. You can't have a tug of war if one person chooses to drop the rope. CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course  Another milestone added to my fitness journey.  First of all, I'd like to thank my parents @jnvjasv and @josearminvirata for making this possible and their undying support in whatever endeavor I pursue.  Officially a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer as of today! What an amazing experience the two-day course was. Learning about @crossfit methodology along with the basic concepts and foundational movements was very informational, thanks to the superb course execution by @juria8 and @simonbarryjones. The course was also made extra special because I was able to share the experience with 16 wonderful batchmates who I'll always try to stay in touch with. Congratulations to those who passed! I really ought to somehow get photos and videos of myself actually working out when I do CrossFit because there is a point I have been trying to relay to clients that words can’t really fully describe. Which is this: - When I work out, most days I go hard. And by hard I mean it can be a burner 🔥 to my lungs or could be high reps or weight gets fucking heavy and 🌶. When I get done, I am laid out on the floor trying to catch my breath and get my ❤️ rate back to normal. Basically, I feel like I truly put my body to the test and need a minute to restore it back to not feeling like dying. - I have been asking my clients to remember their hardest workout with me. And I tell them that is what we are after. Because there’s a sense we often have of pushing ourselves and then there is reality of how much MORE we can push. -  Stay tuned. ‼️HOW TO ACHIEVE GROWTH RAPIDLY‼️ . We see it everyday, one therapist debating against another about a certain viewpoint. Most of the time, it’s a game of tennis, a long rally with an eventual self-proclaimed winner. But does it have to be this way? . The evolution of evidence and our understanding of how people move and work tells us that there is more than one answer to a problem. This is typically true for most things in life. . In my opinion, there is nothing worse for the mind than constantly battling someone else’s viewpoint without appreciating it. . Being open-minded is key to GROWTH. This means, allowing the other persons viewpoint to reach into the processing centre of your brain 🧠 for analysis. . What are they saying? Can you understand where they are coming from? Can you join their debating team and argue against your opinion? What did you learn? . This is will allow you to see things through a different lens and gain a ton of perspective. This will also help you to engage with a diverse range of patients. . Finally, after learning more about the other persons viewpoint, what can you now say of yours? . You can achieve growth rapidly, the trick is to never stop.
Proprioception is something that we would want to focus on when practicing physical movement. Basically it's the understanding of where your body is in space to move around.  Example here we have a basic step vault set up with two benches to allow practice of the left and right sides. When you become more aware of how your body moves in space, down to specific details like where you're placing your hands and what your feet is doing will help with your overall physical progression.
