19/12/18 | Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Southbank - Mains: - Venison & Bottled Cherries ($70) - can't resist a good bit of red meat. Wasn't too much a fan of the sauce and other elements though (smoked beetroot, grilled red cabbage, pickled cherries). - Sirloin of David Blackmore Wagyu ($125) - and another much more expensive bit of red meat. There was an $84 steak but we thought we may as well go all out since we were there. Well. It definitely did not cut like butter, not even like chicken, though it was medium rare. I had a piece with some fat cap and sinew. Charred fat was rich and flavourful, but chewy sinew was very chewy. Wouldn't consider it worth the price. Best part was the bone marrow on top which melted on your tongue and was full of aromatic fatty flavour. The dish also came with triple cooked chips and mushroom ketchup. The ketchup was like BBQ sauce. The chips: texture like styrofoam peanuts—definitely unique lol but didn't care for them, prefer any once-cooked chips I can think of over them.
