My quest for wine knowledge doesn’t stop at just drinking wines (although that is my favorite part!). I’m also reading as much as possible. Although we cover food and wine pairings in wine school, I really wanted to delve further into the subject and my professor suggested I read “What to Drink with What You Eat”. It was a thorough review of what we have covered in class, but what I loved most was the last 2/3’s of the book was a super helpful reference tool to help you match your foot with your beverage. If anyone has any other good wine book suggestions, I’m all ears! 🍷 📚👂 . . . #wineknowledgequest#wineschool#learnwine#learnaboutwine#winenerd#winebook#winebooks#wineknowledge#foodandwinepairing#foodandwinepairings
🙌🏼🍇Montagny: 1er Cru🍇🙌🏼 • Pack your wine glasses, we’re heading back to Burgundy💼! I’ve been craving some stellar cool climate Chardonnay! Even better, I found one that delivers the terroir I’ve come for👌🏼! Though, this bottle takes us a little further south in Burgundy, where it’s slightly warmer, we’re landing in the commune of Montagny, which is located in the Cote Chalonnaise!• What’s significant about Montagny is its vines are dedicated exclusively to Chardonnay🍇! Here, look for full bodied wines, influenced by oak with high acidity and a lovely minerality, thanks to its limestone soils! It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Vigernons de Buxy Buissonnier Montagny, Premier Cru, 2016🍷! A textbook example of white burgundy, from a cooperative in Buxy offering a fantastic choice if you’re looking for palate practice in Old World Chardonnay☝🏼! • On the nose, baked golden delicious apple, honeysuckle, lemon zest, squeezed cucumber juice and notes trickling into white stone fruit, all of which, are delivered in a classic cool climate context🤭! On the palate, a racing mineral driven acidity, white peach, lemon and ripe pear are bundled in a baking spice, hazelnut like finish! It’s medium+ in body and offers a luxurious long finish🤤! • This wine can easily pair with a meat cooked in a white cream sauce(think veal or chicken); or can be paired with classic pairings like seafood or soft cheeses (I.e. goat cheese🧀)! No questions here, #pourrecommendations are automatic and the quality speaks way beyond its price point - find one fast! So what do you think #pourwinos? Are you a fan of the chard from Montagny? How about Burgundy in general? Are you an old or new world chard fan? Do you have a favourite producer from this area? Give me your fan food and wine pairing😏? You know the drill, comment away?!?!
