Anyone who follows me knows that I try to make all of my flower arrangements without the use of floral foam. For those of you who don't know, it's a material that alot of florists use as a water source and it holds the flowers in place wherever you stick them, but, it is made of plastic and doesn't degrade! 💮💮 A couple of weekends ago I came unstuck with a wedding arrangement to look like naturally growing flowers to line the aisle. Making these 'flower meadows' with floral foam is so easy to do as the flowers stay where you place them and you can make it the day before. I had made one previously without floral foam but it was for a top table and so quite low, but, I had thought through all of my mechanics and was sure that I could do this in the same way. Well, on the morning of the wedding, I find out that infact it can't be done the way that I thought as the height and weight of the foxgloves was just too much. So to cut a long story short, we ended up having to pay a premium for some blocks of foam just to ensure that it was done and looking great (main priority on the morning of a wedding!) 💮💮 But, I wasn't going to give up that easily! So, a couple of days later I used some left overs to trial and make sure that it was possible for next time and yes, it is possible! Mechanics are on stories but it's basically jam jars stuck to a tray and then covered with chicken wire which allows foliage and hardy Roses to be front faced. 💮💮 Thank you Elsie @divinabotanica for trying your darn hardest to make the original plan work and also big thanks to @rachelgrimesflowers for batting some alternative ideas back and forth with me and for being one of those florists who can think outside of the box and who wants to make a difference 😘 💮💮 Bring on the next flower meadow....I'm ready!! #nofloralfoam
