Buenos días y bienvenida #primavera. Parecía que el buen tiempo había llegado para quedarse pero hemos pasado de ir en bikini a llevar el abrigo gordo. El domingo, hemos pasado todo el día en la playa de Es Trenc. En verano es más complicado disfrutar de una de las playas más bonitas de Mallorca así que decidimos ir ahora. Creo que es la primera vez que vamos a la playa así, en plan playa de verdad, en bañador, en invierno.. y hemos disfrutado mucho mucho. El agua, helada! THROWBACK No running for me today - an early start to a conference in London followed by a gig tonight means there’s zero chance of throwing on my trainers. 24 days out from the Paris marathon, 3 days from the Coventry half marathon, this enforced down-time has given me the chance to reflect on where I am. Firstly, weight. I got my PB in Paris in 2015 when I was 95kgs, and the lightest I’ve run is 93kgs. I’m currently 96kgs and falling, so I’m just about happy with how much I’ll be lugging around with me on the day. Secondly, training. Does anyone ever feel like they’ve done enough? That they’ve hit the event at the perfect sweet spot of training?! I know I feel a long way off that and really that was all down to just missing my longest run. One run. The week before I aborted (storm-force weather caused the issue) I had put in a decent 32km run so I’m conscious that a fair amount is maranoia, but still, as with every marathon I’ve run, there’s a nagging doubt that is invasive and consuming. Finally, physical condition. No grumbles at the moment mean that I don’t have to protect any joints. My left knee gets aggravated slightly when I hit the indoor bike, so I’ve backed off the cycling (not so good when I’ve got the 100 mile Vélo in May) and have focused on just running and swimming. Why though, do our minds work the way they do? If I had an injury I’d be focused on that and trying to recover. Without anything to worry about I find myself worrying about what might happen. It’s a complete waste of energy and yet I’m still having the same old thoughts of “if I get injured now, I won’t have time to recover” rather than focusing on enjoying the build-up 🙄 So the countdown continues, and as I sit on the train to London watching the sun rise, I do miss our weekend break in Lyme Regis - running the coastal path in the early morning light was so much fun! #throwbackthursday#parismarathon#marathontraining#throwback#myactiveyear

So my sister @ketokat_02_05 tagged me on her 12 facts about yourself....don’t normally do this but thought this would be fun. Sharing fun facts! 1. Was in a hip hop dance crew in high school (DICE) woot woot!!! 2. I have family in UK (sisters, dad and stepmom) 3. I have 4 sisters total and I’m the eldest. (2 in California and 2 in UK) 4. On my 5th or 7th bday I fell off the roof on my grandparents house. I was knocked out and woke up after the party was over. Cant remember which bday. Must be the fall that’s causing the memory loss. 😂 5. I love to journal, write poetry, draw and paint. 6. Met my father the first time in England when I was 16. 7. Whiskey and a good cigar 🙌🏼 8. I have a phobia of 🐌 🙀 9. Pets- outside of dogs and cats, I had a pet duck named Angel that would come and go every season. A jack rabbit named Peter. Parakeet named Chipper that thought he was human. He would fly out of his cage and fly to the fish tank and follow our fishes while talking to them. Last but not least an Amazon 🦜 named Tantrum. Yep, his name matched his personality. Would waddle around the house and loved to sing while taking a shower. LOL. 10. Moved out when I was 18 and never turned back. 11. It’s an old favorite of mine that I know many have shared over the years but I think needs to be shared again. Metabolic syndrome is characterized by abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, low good cholesterol and high triglycerides. This is rampant in our culture. If you have Metabolic Syndrome your body is literally freaking out. The processed foods, few fruits and vegetables cause a very bad day for the good bacteria in your gut. This breakdown (and other reasons) causes bacteria to leak into the bloodstream (intestinal permeability). The body’s onslaught against this threat destroys the anti-oxidant pool. Vitamin C protects and rebuilds Vitamin E. Without both you’re in a downward spiral. Supplementation? Sure. Best to get the fruits and vegetables, though. They are fuel for your gut. And cut the processed food.
