Women send me pictures of their bellies all the time. And often they have so much shame about how it looks. I have held a lot of shame about how my belly looks. The thing about shame is it breeds in darkness, and the more we hide the things we don’t like about ourselves, the more it festers and becomes the very thing that defines us. - You are not just a giant walking belly, and just because your belly isn’t Photoshop ready that doesn’t diminish your worth. - We don’t all have the stereotypical “#fitspo” belly. When you see something enough you start to believe that it’s normal and if you don’t fit into that norm you then you start to believe that you are odd...or ugly. But maybe you’re not odd at all; maybe you’re just seeing too many of the same images. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so maybe we need to behold more variety. - Sometimes you can do all the exercises, eat all the good food and stay on target and you will still have excess skin, cellulite or a huge freaking hernia that takes prime real estate on your belly. But hey, maybe we weren’t meant to all look the same. Maybe it’s ok that healthy bodies manifest in different ways. Maybe you were never meant to be defined by your body.
