When it comes to the clean, we coach our athletes to have a slightly wider grip. . A thumb to a thumb and a half length from where the smooth part of the barbell meets the knurling, allows for the bar to connect higher on the thigh... making it easier for an athlete to fully extend in a balanced position. . A wider grip is also beneficial for lifters who need a little help speeding up their turn over (in conjunction with an aggressive pull under, of course!). . Just because a narrower group CAN feel more comfortable in a front squat rack position, doesn’t mean it’s beneficial for a clean! . Say hello to Misha everyone and read her story below:- "All my life I had been a dancer but a condition in my ankle since the age of 7yrs old was holding me back. From the age of 3 years, I was a classically trained dancer, I quit at 10 years old as the pain was unbearable. My dream of becoming a professional dancer was now over. After seeing various doctors I finally had an answer for my problems. I had an operation on my ankle to remove random cartilage. I recovered at home followed with crutches and physiotherapy. I had lost critical time in the dance world. It was now time to refocus and put plan B in to operation. I experimented with various forms of fitness and sports from Cheerleading to Judo. I plunged my self into the theatrical and fitness world. I was able to do this at my own pace and still have fun. I focused on what I could do, rather than want I can't. I struggled to come up with a occupation where a certain amount of fitness was not required. Singing, writing, producing and entertaining is now my profession and passion, therefor, body image and exercising my vocal muscles are valuable. I keep a healthy diet, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly. I have a focus and an aim, it's exciting and rewarding as it all falls into place, no matter how hard I have to work for it."

you can’t grow unless you push yourself literally. ✨ I get quite a few requests for fitness advice and the biggest mistake I see when training, especially amongst people who want to achieve a certain shape (not that you have to by any means) is that you aren’t lifting heavy enough weights! in order to stimulate muscle growth, you have to give them a REASON to increase in size and strength (ie heavier weights!) it might burn but it is the only way to do it. AND the results are super rewarding, both physically and mentally. there is something so powerful about knowing that you can squat over 170 pounds. my target right now is to get to 200, and with consistent training and nutrition, almost anything is possible ☺️
Full disclosure. This freaks me the hell out and makes me emotional. Could I explain why? For the life of me, no. Dunno. Clueless. Maybe it's because I haven't made this kind of progress in such a short period.of time before, or perhaps the idea that what I have always worked for is closer than ever. Whatever it is, I'm emotional about it. Being emotional isn't bad. I'm just usually always in tune with myself enough to pin point why I feel the way I do. Holiday shopping this weekend was a mixture of exciting and a bit frustrating. . People don’t always exude the holiday feels when your out shopping in busy stores.
