Post-workout nutrition is crucial, especially if you’re trying to lose weight . It may seem counterproductive to eat and drink something after your workout because you just worked off and burned all of those calories . But one of the main reasons for this is because your body is depleted of nutrients, your muscles are torn and broken down, your bones took a beating, and you need to begin the rebuild process to continue to lose weight . Begin by having a protein source post-workout in order to aid the muscle rebuild process to not be as sore the next day, and feel ready for tomorrow’s workout . Also have a simple carb (which is glucose or simple sugar) source because your body is low in glycogen. . All glycogen is, is the body’s most readily available fuel source, which can and will be converted into glucose to give you energy . Another benefit of having a simple carb is that it shuttles the protein to your muscles faster and rebuild and refuel faster . So throw in a simple carb with your protein shake to begin refueling your glycogen stores in your body (primarily liver and muscles) and begin rebuilding your torn and broken down muscle . My favorite protein source is Whey Protein . My favorite carb source is a banana (which technically isn’t a simple carb because it’s fructose and not glucose, takes a little longer to process into glucose, but it does the job for me) . Examples of simple carbs incase food isn’t readily available are gummy bears, gummy worms, pixie sticks, sour patch kids, etc . Good evening. Here was my workout for today! I woke up tired. But knew I would regret every reason I didn’t go if I chose to sleep in. I definitely went home and napped after. I’m thankful I went, though because I love doing partner workouts. They’re nice because they bring everyone together and you have someone else motivating you to do well. Did you workout today?
