Okay guys. I’ve been in a WEIRD headspace all week. Frustrated by the scale. Finished my third semester of nursing school. Trying out new workouts to build muscle. And today i woke up and said okay. YES, I WAS one of those types of people who didn’t understand the love people had for their fur baby’s. ⠀ ⠀ Now I get it though 🤦🏼‍♀️⠀ ⠀ My Little Bear is the first fur baby who has touched my heart in ways I did not know any animal could. Over the summer I was in a tizzy struggling to see which foods were leading to inflammation, water retention and bloating.  I was hesitant to start keeping a food journal again because of the frustrations I've had in the past, but also needed a way to be honest with myself.  In October I DID start journaling my food again and maintained the mindset that it was simply a tool, I would still eat if I was hungry and I'd stop when I was full, I could make sure I'm reaching my protein goal, and it would help me to see where I could create a caloric deficit at some point.  I set the calories to a maintenance level and started to simply put in approximations and chose to be honest without judgement.  When I began to examine my food journal I started to see patterns in cravings during hormonal cycles, started to notice that I was consuming more processed foods than I thought, I was consuming less produce than I thought, and also (rightfully so) noticed my hunger increasing on the days I had intense workouts.  I now use it to gather data and observe, rather than obsess and judge.  By starting at a maintenance level of calories, I was also able to stop gaining weight without feeling ultra restricted (thank you to @half_size_me_ for this suggestion!) and now I'm moving into a very slight deficit.  So should you keep a food journal?  You should do what is best for YOU.  Think about your life- would you benefit from being able to see your normal intake?  Can you gather data without judging yourself?  Can you use that data to slightly change habits and observe your natural tendencies?  Do what works best for you!
To some, I'm waay to excited to be working out at 6am.  I wish my schedule allowed me to workout at a different time,  but that's not the way my life is at this point.  I also know myself well enough to know if I don't do it early in the morning. I'll find an excuse to not do it at all.  This morning I was drowsy, but when I got to my workout room and noticed myself in the mirror I KNEW my hard work it paying off.  My. Arms. And. Shoulders.  It's funny (not really,  it's science) how I always notice improvement and more definition after a rest day.  When your body has time to recover it can do truly amazing things. :) Don't skip your day of rest. Did you know I said “no” to this coaching thing THREE times before I said yes? . I am shy and a homebody.... and I thought you had to be super confident, in good shape, and have a huge following on social media - literally none of which I had. . I had 200-300 friends on fb, less on instagram - I was 4 months postpartum and had 20 lbs to lose, my husband was pretty skeptical and while he was supportive, I know he secretly hoped we weren’t going to lose our money. . My coach showed me how to stay consistent and work on myself (just like I help my coaches do) — she said “get fit and inspire others to do the same and you’ll be successful”- I thought... who would ever think I’m inspiring?” but I did it anyway. . Glad I listened to her cause she was right. . Turns out when you work really hard, it pays off in a big way. So grateful I said yes ❤️
Life is about choices... TODAY IS THE BEGINNING OF WHATEVER YOU WANT  Set your goals high and don’t stop till you get there...
. If there is one piece of advice I could give you it would be: if you want it, go for it. Don’t ask permission, don’t wait another day, don’t give up, don’t lose hope. . And just when you think you can’t, remember that you most certainly CAN! Because in 3 months, 9 months, 2 years, 10 years from now you WILL thank yourself for pushing your fears aside and making that decision. .
