Beaches life/ oversized shirts are cool. It rained today so we drove to the other side of the world and it was still raining. For sure, I thought 30 miles in any direction would yield no rain. I was wrong and I got drenched along with the kids. ———————/——-/——The funny thing is, they were as happy as can be with wet shoes and pants. Of course, I promptly bought them new clothes and jackets so that they were dry, but not one of the three complained. It dawned on me how we as adults are not flexible. If things don’t go our way, we start WWIII and have a pity party. Kids don’t give AF if it is rain or shine so long as they can be free. I am going to practice that when I get home. So on my recent IG poll I got a lot of replies that you guys wanted more ab exercises! What a lot of people fail to realize is that abs are built in the gym but are exposed in the kitchen!! • • Doing 100 variations of a crunch or Russian twists isn’t going to give you those shredded abs you want...it’s helps but the REAL secret is focusing on your diet and eating the proper foods and the proper amount of food to lose weight! 🥦🍎🥚 • • Personally I hate doing isolated ab exercises so I find ways to incorporate them in other parts of my workout. Recovery week. It's really made it clear how much I NEEDED a break. When I went out for my short run this morning I was so excited. Literally started my run on a runner's high. I felt great the entire run even though after the first mile my body finally realized it was 70° out and SUPER humid. I think I was close to burn out level and now I can't wait for my next run! This is another reason rest and recovery are so important! Take the time when you need it! One of the biggest problems people have trying to lose fat is quite honestly not eating enough protein-our leading macronutrient. ~ I know for sure I was not getting enough protein in my day, honestly about half of what I should have been getting.  When I finally figured this out my body starting changing & certainly for the better. ~ Do you know protein is an important part of every cell in your body including hair, skin, muscle, enzymes, hormones, bones, cartilage, skin & blood. ~ You burn fat when you eat fewer calories than your body needs.  But at the same time you don’t want to lose your muscle mass.  Muscle maintains a higher metabolic rate which will lead to fat loss. ~ Consuming 20-35 grams of protein throughout your day feeds/preserves your muscle.  This also keeps you in an anabolic state of fat burning muscle building.  In an anabolic state you are also mostly burning carbs & fats for energy. If you aren’t anabolic you are catabolic-fat saving muscle burning & excessive fats & carbs will be stored as fat. ~ It takes a lot more energy to process protein which increases your metabolism.  All of this means you can consume more calories while burning calories  from your meals. ~ A high Protein diet helps curb cravings, helps maintain lean muscle, keeps you full longer, increases your calorie burn & repairs your muscles. ~ To keep your lean muscle while loosing fat you should choose a lean protein. No need to starve to lose fat.  You are doing more harm than good by not giving your body what it needs. ~ The lean protein choices available in the foods above have the following grams of protein per serving.  These would be a great choice to help you reach your goals. 4 ounce chicken breast-23 3 ounces 95/5% ground beef-18 4 ounces of sirloin-24 1 Egg white-3.6 4 ounces of large shrimp-26 1 scoop of Level-1 Ice Cream Sandwich-24 Level-1 Bar-20 4 ounces of Seitan-30 4 ounces of Ground Turkey-22 6 ounce Tuna Filet-30 3 ounce Salmon Filet-17 ~ If I can help

I’m sure you’ve all heard a million times before how you should ditch the scale because it’s not an accurate representation of your progress or worth, and this is SO true. However, today I want to talk about measurements. The same concept applies to it if that’s the only unit you’re measuring your progress by! — I’ve been a believer of the no scale life for a while now, but the other day we were taking some measurements of ourselves (we do so usually once a month) and I started feeling really discouraged because my numbers were either the exact same or barely different. I got bummed because I feel like I’ve been having great workouts, I’ve been upping my weight on a lot of the lifts we’ve been doing, and I’ve been way better with what I’m eating. — Justin reminded me though that because of those different factors it doesn’t mean I’m not making progress. I’m building muscle and that’s where the measurements fall short on their own. — It really is a combination of things! 1️⃣ measurements  2️⃣ how your clothes fit 3️⃣ your energy levels and how you feel 4️⃣ weight for exercises is increasing There’s more than can go into it as well but the biggest thing that ties into all of it is patience 🧘🏻‍♀️ For some seeing that progress takes much longer than others so remember that! We’re all in this together 💕
Challanging yourself everyday is one of the most exciting ways to live. First you feel like dying than you feel reborn.  This week has been very mentally challanging for me, and learning to push through and really focus in on what I need to do to make tomorrows me proud of what I accomplished today. So much progress is happening!!
SILENCE THE ENEMY WITHIN- 💪 This is a motto that I look at daily on my watch face and one I practice as well! Your mind is a battlefield! We are bombarded 💣 daily with thousands of thoughts and decisions and it can be very draining on us. So many people tell me the thought of working out is exhausting and I realize they just haven’t changed their mindset in regards to it! 😏 Exercise gives you energy back! I feel more alive and my moods are way better when I exercise. I know what it’s like to miss weeks of workouts, thanks to my surgery setbacks, but those were the toughest weeks on me mentally more than anything! Tackling the mind is a daily challenge, one that requires constant work, but when you can push past barriers holding you back...your WINNING! 🏆 Victories aren’t just you standing on a podium, it’s a victory if you even show up and start!! 💪 My victory this week was finally getting back into the pool! 🏊🏼‍♀️ I think I’ve gotten one small swim in since I raced in Mexico, almost a month ago. This swim wasn’t much to speak of and I had to cut it short, but it was a win I even showed up! 😄 I’ll find my rhythm again, I just have to keep showing up! Who else struggles the mind battle? 🙋🏼‍♀️ Excited to represent @mind.over.matter.athlete for another season! I’m so grateful to be part of this powerful group of athletes who push to lift each other up and keep inspiring others to #silencetheenemywithin 👊
Just say no! Ever feel like you’re being stretched too thin? I love saying yes to things! But then I find that I’m overbooked, overwhelmed, and over it. I’ve been learning to say no lately. Sometimes the reason is just that I need some alone time, or that I need to do laundry. It’s so easy for me to pack my week with stuff and feel constantly busy. Then I end up feeling totally drained by Sunday.  Do yourself a favor, and try to slow down.
