. The weather hasn’t been on our side this holiday; we managed an hour at the beach yesterday when the rain took a break, but the rest of the time were spent either under shelters watching the sudden downpours or cooped up indoors. And there’s only so much you can do with an almost 3-year-old stuck in a studio air bnb. I explored making macrame flowers. I’m not very patient with watching video tutorials so I thought maybe I’ll test out with the same technique I’ve learnt with the leaves but shape them differently. I like what I came up with, I had in mind rounder petals rather than the pointy Lily-like ones I’ve seen, but my finishings were messy and I wasn’t happy with them. So I finally made myself watch the tutorials, not like I had anywhere else to be 🙄☔️... Scroll on to see my practice pieces!

Just wanted to say thank you to those who commented on my last post. Being creative when you have to be sure sucks the creative inspiration out of you. There are some great suggestions if you need a boost for yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm trying to be easy on myself as to not make things worse. I am so proud of the work I've accomplished in the last few months. So things aren't all that bad 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you want to shop in person don't forget I have a lot of work at @thelocallife.on.locke and @thelittlepopupshoppe ❤
Making moons. Inspired by the queen of soulful slow stitching, Jude Hill @spiritcloth. She has some incredible free courses available on her website, which I am just beginning to dip my toes into. 🌝 I’ve admired shibori moons for such a long time, but somehow have only just gotten around to giving it a go. After months of solid ecourse creation, it feels so invigorating to try a new thing. Simple, joyous magic. And who knew that I could have as many moons as I desire for just 40 cents?!
Been thinking about this design since doing that bouquet. It’s definitely not perfected yet but I like where it’s going. I did this post-park and pre-dinner while one of my daughter designed a necklace beside me (swipe to see her design) and the other one worked on her zoo diorama. It was a rare moment of harmony. Hopefully we can find more of this over the summer. 🤞
Confession. I have this weird fear of working with multiple colors in one piece. I guess I’m afraid it will look funny. I also just love neutrals. 50% of my wardrobe is cream. So, I challenged myself this week to use lots of COLOR! I have 3 new pieces in this colorful collection and I will share them over the course of this week. Here is numero uno! . Also, this hot pink was in my last @fibreshare package! Thanks, @swierzy56 😘
This #canada 🇨🇦 #pride 🏳️🌈 #map was made from over 60 pieces of #repurposedfabric ...thanks for the suggestion @veryhappytoys 👍 . Send me a message if your interested in purchasing this bold, bright and beautiful 20"×20"
For those of you who guessed pillow yesterday *ding ding ding* you win a pat on the back! Oh man, I would get so annoyed as a kid when someone would say that to me. Or even worse, a happy feeling. Of course I’m happy I got it right but what’s the real prize! Haha! The real prize is that tomorrow (cross your fingers) I post a finished pillow on here. I warped up my loom again last night but could not get started due to no inspiration. Help me out by suggesting your favorite color schemes!
Is anyone else struggling? 🤔 . I have been studying up on social media behind the scenes and and have been learning a ton. But dang! Social media is so complicated! . Between planning a beautiful grid, using the right hashtags, posting at the right times...it can feel overwhelming. That's where I'm at now. But! I've found that if I push through when I feel like I'm losing my mind....magical things happen! 🌈 . I know if I keep studying, coming up with strategies and growing my knowledge, one day I will be an IG queen. For this moment though, still going little crazy. Here's to the magic after the crazy!
So when the tree came down it also created a hanging place for this rice of work #rydalhallsculpturepath#textilecourses #textileart#textiledesign#rydalhall#landart#theplacetobe#textiles#textileoftheday#lakedistrict#cumbria#fibreartist#reuse#feltarts#textilesculpture

'It was once commonplace for creatures to carry stories, Often sharing them at the meeting points such as crossroads and crumbling doorsteps. However humans started questioning the stories with phrases like 'That couldn't really happen' and 'What a load of old codswollop.' inevitably this took its toll on the creatures. At first it was hard to notice just the odd hesitation or mispronunciation but as things worsened and the humans eyes began to dull the creatures suffered so much so that when they went to share a story it rolled about in their mouths like sticky honeycomb only to appear eventually as a moth that disappeared on quiet wings, no words at all! So the creatures retreated and their tales with them but although not heard they still lived on. Unable to be contained in their minds the words became fragments of themselves, written on the wings of fae. I sometimes see them flitting above my head at dusk but very rarely do they linger and never have I heard anything louder than the odd whisper. It's good to know they are still around but I do miss my stories at the crossroads.' Good evening! I hope you like my little story fae, I am still working on a large piece and bizarrely these little ones seem to often appear when I am focusing on something else...I suppose that is very much like the fae themselves, always there as long as you don't look too hard!
