Let’s talk fiber! I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were talking about the importance of fiber and I realized, I had never even brought it up on this account!🀦🏼‍♀️ So lets get things moving (pun intended) and talk all things fiberπŸ‘‡πŸ». Fiber is so incredibly important for gut health and it almost never gets talked about. Sure we all know about probiotics and a healthy gut biome but do we know how to maintain it? It’s actually pretty simple...FIBER! In order for your little gut buddies (probiotics) to thrive, you have to provide them with food (prebiotics). That’s where our friend fiber comes in.  All prebiotics are a form of fiber (although not all fiber is prebiotic) which is basically an insoluble food that can’t be broken down but rather your gut bacteria feeds off of it to thriveπŸ™ŒπŸ»! Some of my favorite sources of fiber are dark leafy greens/cruciferous greens like kale, spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccolini. On the fruit side of fiber I go for bananas, apples and berries (the best sources of fiber from fruits). My other main sources of fiber are chia seeds (so easy to just add to water and drink and they are SUCH a great source of fiber), sweet potatoes, chickpeas, quinoa, brown rice, nuts and seeds, lentils and my all time favorite.....dark chocolate🀀🀀🀀 It’s so important to implement a wide variety of fibers to cater to all your gut floras needs and have the happiest, healthiest gut you can☺️ Feel free to ask any questions in the comments belowπŸ‘‡πŸ». #fiberislife #guthealthy #prebiotic  #paleofoods #happyguthappylife

My second ever hand dyeing fiber experience with the hubby. We are having fun playing trial and error. Except so far I haven't really come across any error. I am very pleased with the way this batch of fiber colors came out. Next time though I will add more dye to the water just to see if it doesn't darken it up even more. Each color is 4oz of Shetland. I need to invest in a good blending board so I can blend these solid colored fibers together and make some rolags to spin. I'm a huge fan of salads! But not those sad salads that keep you full for about 10 seconds. β € β € Taking advantage of @f_factor rule that non-starchy vegetables are free food, I upgrade my salads by adding the following ingredients to my dark leaf salad mixes from @traderjoes:β € β € * raw (uncooked) vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, carrots for crunchy texture and the benefits of fiberβ €πŸ₯— * shaved almonds and seeds for extra crunch πŸ₯œβ € - a little bit of parmesan for taste πŸ§€ - a portion of protein (I love salmon or chicken burgers with spinach). 🐟 Note that a serving is much less than you might think (so I usually weigh my protein)β € - a couple of sprays of truffle oil as a finishing touch! Hello, I'm Inna and I started this account to help me have a healthier relationship with food, eat more fiber and drink more water. πŸ₯—πŸ₯› β € β € Apparently, up to 50% of women are on a diet at any given time and yet 95% of diets fail, most likely for one main reason: because they are unsustainable in the long term. β € β € I have always been interested in ways to get leaner, yet what it meant is being SKINNY. πŸ‘™ At that point I had no understanding or awareness of how food fuels us, how macronutrients work and how our body digests and uses the food we eat and what we drink. β € β € I'm from Russia where people do pretty much eat Paleo (back in Soviet Union many people had a country house/land where they grew their own food so we always had fresh fruit and vegetables in summer and preserves like pickled cucumbers and tomatoes and home made jams in winter) but the diet is also dominated by bread, potatoes, pasta and rice, processed meats and lots of dairy. πŸžπŸ§€πŸπŸ₯”πŸš β € β € Weight has always been something I have been worrying about - mostly because there is so much pressure for women to look a certain way and the (often unattainable) image celebrities and consumer brands project.β € β € I learnt about F-Factor years ago and met @tanyazuckerbrot when the PR agency I worked for organized a press junket with Tanya in Moscow to talk about the health benefits of eating @wonderfulpistachios and highlighting its fiber contents. β € While I did not get on @f_factor wagon back then, I rediscovered when I decided to try those amazingly looking ffactor waffles! Every time I make @f_factor blueberry 20/20 muffins by @tanyazuckerbrot I cannot believe how simple they are to make and how delicious and nutritious they are! Mixing takes 5 mins (I blend all the ingredients in @nutribullet) and baking is 15 mins. πŸ’β € β € One serving is 3 (yes, THREE!) muffins and each Muffin has 7g of protein, 11g carbs, 5g fiber, 3g of sugar and only 6g net carbs. Got inspired by @friendswithfiber to make this delicious and filling breakfast this morning! πŸ§β € β € It's @traderjoes zero fat Greek yogurt, blended with frozen berries and topped with @julianbakery blueberry granola. β € β € I added all the ingredients together and blended them in Nutribullet. Last night, I made Samantha’s Savory Stir-fry (with a few tweaks) from the @F_factor website. ⁣ ⁣ Currently (almost) half my way through my week of Step 1 and honestly really enjoying it! To me, Step 1 is about being more mindful. ⁣ ⁣ Throughout my day to day I always try to live as close to Step 1 as possible, but sometimes it’s nice to check in with yourself & be more mindful.⁣ ⁣ For me, it means focusing on being more consistent with journaling and drinking WAY more water. It's a grey and chilly morning in San Francisco so I started my day with this hearty and warm porridge. πŸ‘©‍πŸ³β € β € This breakfast is actually inspired by @aliceliveing and her amazing hot porridge recipes and adjusted for @f_factor lifestyle. πŸ’šβ € β € I used 1/3 cup rolled oats and 1/3 cup of Bran Buds Cereal that Tanya recommends in the book and added 2 scoops of chocolate 🍫 20/20 fiber/protein powder and a few blackberries and blueberries for added fiber.
