Starting to really enjoy these tempo workouts! Today's workout was at a comfortable pace which was still a bit slow. A slight improvement from last weeks tempo workout but Im happy with it. My plan is to gradually pick up the pace as I increase the number of segments. Hoping this snail can get on up there with those rabbits at the chicago marathon. Increasing physical fitness requires patience, letting your body grow in strength and speed. Pushing too hard too soon is never a good idea and will most certainly end in injury or fatigue. Ever runner should always remember this simple rule: "Listen to your body". Todays workout was๐Ÿ”ฅ. On the 5th set of squats my world was feeling a little rocked! Especially with this little lovely super set. I tend to rush a lot of things when I workout. My squats were suppose to have a 2 second pause at the bottom on all reps. In my head it felt like a 5 second pause. But looking back now I barely made 1 second!!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. This is how videoing yourself can be important. Day 1 - Heart Rate Zone Training โค๏ธ โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € I originally heard about heart rate zone training from the book, Finding Ultra, by Rich Roll. Rich was a collegiate swimmer and always had the mentality of training 100% all the time. When he got serious about endurance training, his coach made him stay in specific heart rate zones to truly build endurance and fitness. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € After my last marathon performance, I self-diagnosed, that I was having a similar problem. I am usually running as hard as I can at all times. Which, most likely, is NOT the most efficient way to build fitness and endurance. SO, that’s how I got to where I am now. Moving forward, I plan to really focus on specific heart rate zones when training. โ € I am not super knowledgeable about heart rate training yet but I’ll be doing a good bit of research and will report back my findings!๐Ÿ˜Š

Training tonight and back doing the 3 person promenade relays with a different group. I just love the promenade loop. My right ankle has been sore last few days and I could feel it tonight as well as just above it in the calf but we cracked on. This is the 2nd time I’ve done this session a few weeks I enjoyed it. The group of 3 we had ran well it was tough, pace quite high slowly started to dip in time but effort was the same, definitely felt on the last two loop the overall session was faster than last time I done it a few weeks ago so hopefully fitness is improving. I actually just felt good running it which pleased me. So here are my (3) boys aged 6, 8 & 10 taking on the U.S Canine Biathlon course on Sunday funday, 4.25 miles and 84 challenging obstacles. We captured the start and finish area but lost them in the mountain and forest until they re-emerged for the final stretch. Everything is coming together. At.bloody.LAST!! • It’s been a year of ups and downs so far. I get a good rhythm of training only to be set back by an injury. After tooing and throwing at the end of Feb I got sick of it and basically stopped running for a while. • Quietly I’ve been building up my running over the last 6-8weeks, unbelievably I’m getting to a place now where I am now running 50 miles a week and feeling BLOODY fantastic...long may this continue. • 2019 goals still firmly on track. I lost weight but personally felt like I wanted more shape and more muscles ! This is just a few months difference .  134 on the left and 138 on the right.
