No matter what happens, if you can keep the bigger picture in mind, it will help you put your successes and failures into perspective. . Today marks the beginning of week 4 into my 12 week program. This week we're focusing on self care with foam rolling and active rest through yoga. . These self care weeks, which occur every 4th week throughout these 12 weeks, I particularly love because of the yoga. Something I don't practice enough of. . It's been proven that yoga help decrease stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, and many other mental health issues. It also works by decreasing activity in the sympathetic nervous system, otherwise known as the "fight or flight" response, which is typically responsible for constricting blood vessels and raising heart rate and blood pressure. . The breathing practices, which I thoroughly enjoy in yoga calm the nervous system overall and give us the time to reset. Heaven for someone that struggles with anxiety and panic attacks. . By being in tune with our body's movement and breath at the same time, we are practicing ways to be mindful both on the mat and in our daily life. . . TODAY’S PRACTICE -30 mins yoga 🧘🏾♀️ focusing on upper body strength -10 mins form rolling 💆
