Being the adventurous self on the 3rd day in palawan Vien and I opted to do island hopping since we missed waking up early for the big lagoon, that 20min boat ride was spectacular, when we got to snake island vien said we do a small hike to see a good top view of the island. The tourist guide said there are 2 diff. currents opposite each other hence the reason snake island was made. #snakeisland#elnido#palawan#philippines
On this Earth Day, I am thinking of El Nido and the amazing efforts they put into preserving their ecosystems. From single use plastic bans, ecotourism laws, and strict coral reef protection, El Nido is a great example of how we should be treating our planet. For indigenous Filipinos who rely on the land and sea for their livelihoods, preserving the environment is essential to their survival and we owe it to them and to all people to help preserve our Earth. . To me, sustainable living means rejecting wasteful capitalist practices and embracing and learning from indigenous practices so that we can continue to develop a relationship with the land and sea that we call home. . . #earth#earthday#sustainability#sustainableliving#preserveindigenouspractices#elnido#elnidopalawan#palawan#ecotourism
Recently, for our honeymoon, we went to El Nido, Philippines. Not only was it beautiful there, but it also pulled my heart strings when I found that they cared about reducing the use of plastic, especially plastic straws! In El Nido, they only have paper and bamboo straws available. This is extremely important for the prosperity of sea life and sea creatures, and is especially important for an ocean city to be fighting for. Because where do all the plastic straws go when we throw them away? Into the ocean. And where in the ocean do these straws go? Into the bellies of the sea turtles, whale sharks, and other sea life we love all around. In places where the banning of plastic straws is still not implemented, what you can do is to tell your waiter to bring your drink without a plastic straw. Don't be afraid to have these conversations with them and with your friends. And here in LA, they already know, they just need to keep hearing it. #elnido , you make me so proud! Happy Earth Day!! 🌍 #loveyourhome#lovetheanimals#reduceplasticwaste#earthday
Earth Day 🌎 every time I explore a new corner of this amazing planet we call home, I am reminded of all it gives and often the cost of its gifts to us. No matter how small of an action, let’s continue to do our part to respect and appreciate this incredible, natural resource so it can be marveled at and enjoyed by generations to come!
