NEW #podcast: Whit Matthews, senior investment director at Aberdeen Standard Investments, sat down with MMG on the sidelines of the Association for Corporate Growth’s #intergrowth conference to talk about what his firm looks for when selecting GPs to work with and some of the common missteps he sees private equity firms make during succession planning.⠀ ⠀ During the conversation, he also described his firm’s relationship with emerging managers and independent sponsors, and he commented on some of the broader fundraising and investing trends he’s watching. ⠀ ⠀ At a time when many economists are predicting the end of this economic cycle, Matthews weighed in on how he expects a recession will impact co-investment activity, and how #lps are preparing for an eventual downturn.⠀ ⠀ To hear more interviews with middle-market influencers, subscribe to the Middle Market Growth Conversations podcast on Apple Podcasts and Google Play.⠀ #podcast #middlemarketgrowthconversations #mmg#aberdeen#invest#limitedpartnership#lp#economist#googleplay

Ronald Ray Fox Jr. (@unconquerablefox ) explains why he went from dropping out of high school to making the decision to further his education and pursuing a career in Law. Since returning to academia, Ronald has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Miami Florida then a Master of Arts in Global Affairs from Florida International University. In Fall 2019, he will begin a Master of Law program. . . He writes: . . “I received a GED after dropping out my senior year of high school. Politics and social justice gave me the inspiration to continue my education. Education was a foundational gateway towards creating change in our world and community. My dream is to become an attorney & have a prominent role in Civil Rights & Social Justice politically. . . . So as of today I have gotten into FIU but I had my interviews last week with USC & George Mason. Both schools basically almost assured me I’d be accepted after reviewing my profile and my personal statement during the interview. I’ll have a decision by the end of this week/early next week I was told. My top choice is UPenn. App in review. Those are my options at that moment.” ... Congratulations Ronald!!!
We were thrilled to interview Cribsheet author and Brown economist @profemilyoster for episode three of Nyssa: The Unmentionables. She shares how to use data to help us make the most informed decisions for our families and we cover topics such breastfeeding (surprise: the data does not indicate significant longterm benefits), why the six-week postpartum check-up actually exists (this will blow your mind), and whether non-birthing parents can also experience postpartum depression (absolutely). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We also share an audience Q+A from our live broadcast at @chicagoathleticassociation with the dream team of therapist @nlively, and doulas Anna and Eleanor from @villagedoulas. ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can listen on Apple podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and at nyssacare.com. Please consider leaving a review, we’d really appreciate it!
