And.....The number one post of 2018 was... the same space as yesterday- this nook! 😆I hesitated posting the same space two days in a row but I felt like a liar if I didn't. 👖 🔥 There could be that one person who goes and checks the numbers and calls me out and what then?! 😳Oh the shame... 😩🙈😉 Want some more design memories of 2018? I made a video in my stories (and highlights) with the before and afters of my client projects this year. So fun to look back and see all of the transformations. Beyond grateful for these families that invited me into their homes and worked with me this year. And beyond grateful for all of you following along! Hope you enjoy it! Happy New Year!
The number two post of 2018 is this shot of our breakfast nook. This is my favorite place to sit and relax in the house. We eat all of our meals here too - it's become a family favorite 💕It's just such a cozy little spot and I'm so happy we added it. Not to be bossy, but if there's a spot for a bench seat in your kitchen- DO IT. 😉You'll love it!
So my plot to be lazy and post my top five posts before the new year has backfired. Now I'm posting on the weekend, which I usually take off form Instagram. Oh the irony! 😂Coming in at number three of the top posts of 2018 is my personal favorite. My cute babes on a cute rug in a clean kitchen. Can't beat that trifecta! 😍😍😍(Well technically you can "beat" it because this was not number 1...but in my book, can't beat it. You get what I'm saying 😆) Happy Saturday!!
There's just something about a MASSIVE kitchen island that always inspires me ✨ It can be a place for the kids to jump up on the barstools while you pull the cookies out of the oven, a place for friends to sit while you refill the wine glasses, a place for you and your husband to light the candles, share a pint of ice cream, and have an at-home date night... the possibilities are endless! So if you think your island is big, GO BIGGER! Add more barstools, hang some moody pendant lights over it, and enjoy 💖
A long table, a bar in the back... looks like the perfect party house to me 😉 I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, but if the white runs out I'll drink the red! 🍷 What are you doing tonight on this Christmas Eve Eve?!
Planning my dining room refresh and it's making me recall all the times ol Danny boy and I have butted heads over home design decisions 😆For example, I had to argue my case pretty hard to convince Dan that this window seat was a good idea and I'm so thankful I'm such a hard head. 💁🏻Then, I had to convince him we could fit a little table and chairs here too. That was a whole other battle. 🙈🍻He's a very visual learner when it comes to home decor, so I ended up dragging in an old outdoor table just to show him how it would fit. It worked. Can't argue when you demonstrate with a stand in. 😆The lesson here- never stop arguing your case with the stubborn significant other. Eventually you'll wear them down and win 😁👊🏼#yougottafightforyourrighttowindowbench Happy Friday everyone!
You all showed us SO MUCH LOVE with this kitchen we posted from a few days ago, so we had to dig up this photo from the archives and show off a close up of that backsplash! 💛 If you had to pick just ONE favorite part about this kitchen, what would it be?!
🔥 Hot off the presses - our just completed Menlo Park Project. We couldn't wait for the professional photos (coming soon) therefore, iPhone shots in the meantime. Great clients + flawless execution = a happy team!!
Even when we take on the more trendy, farmhouse design, we still make sure to keep that classic OCID magic front and center ✨💁🏼♀️ How fun is that glam chandelier when contrasted with the rustic floating shelves and farmhouse-inspired backsplash?!
My rainy day blues were quickly lifted this morning as I entered the new kitchen my clients moved into recently. I smelled their freshly cooked breakfast, saw them prepping lunch to go for their toddler's day, and heard how well the new kitchen passed the Thanksgiving cooking test. It is truly the heart of this renovated home and I feel so grateful for taking part in making this dream space a reality! #eastbaydesigner#dwellkitchen#sunsetmag
I ran out of dish soap in the middle of doing dishes this week, but I have already purchased and stored away my Christmas wrapping paper. Priorities. 👊🏼Am I right?! 🤣🤷♀️Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow! I'll be wearing something loose around the waist so I can stuff myself to the point of misery! 🤣🐷#twodinnersbacktoback #hartleyhomies
Added bonus to having this extra counter space? Room to make some drinks! 🙌🏼🍹 #itsbeenalongweek . I just got my bar cart suite from @suitely and I'm loving it! My favorite piece may be the decanter with the wooden ball lid. So cute! @suitely is a company that curates beautiful home decor pieces into shop-able sets. Such a good idea! Head to my stories to see the close ups of what I got in my set and swipe up to shop for yourself! (Or for someone else- it is the holidays after all...) 😉I'm off to make some drinks! Cheers to the weekend! 🥂#suitely #mysuitely#ad
Added just a teeny tiny little touch of Christmas in my kitchen.🌲 I know I was a little lazy about Fall decorating, but now everyone is posting Christmas stuff and I've caught the bug!! It's all too pretty and full of joy and cheer and I can't resist! 😍Have you fallen victim to premature holiday decor pressure too? Or staying strong? Speaking of pressure... Head to my stories to see three simple and cute ways to hang stockings without a mantel, staircase, coat rack, etc.
Anyone ever read the children's book "A Fine, Fine School" by Sharon Creech @creechauthor ? We were reading it at bedtime during our pantry renovation and Dan and I had to laugh. In the story, the principal loves the school so much he keeps adding on more school. "This is a fine, fine school, lets have more school! Let's have school on weekends...holidays...summer!" That was pretty much me during the planning phase and how I talked Dan into it. "This is a fine fine kitchen! Let's have more kitchen! Let's have kitchen in the pantry closet!" 🤣 . Anyway, it's a cute book if you've got littles 😊 (Fun fact- I was a school librarian for two years when I was in my 20's. It was SO fun 💕#childrensbooknerd )
The Lighthouse features different volumes creating interest and capturing natural daylight while maintaining privacy. Its exterior wood siding houses a warm canvas for the windows and unique light fixtures placed strategically in sight.

The fact that Moscow mules are the best cocktail AND just so happen to be served in the prettiest copper cups 😋 I love how the copper accents on those cups complement the purple lighting we did in this Yorba Linda man cave! 🍻 What is your favorite cocktail?!
