Day #1 : this is going to be harder than I thought! Woke up to a lovely rainy humid day outside, but no excuses remember! I struggled round with a stitch because I'd ate my breakfast too late 😂 Gone are the days when I could roll out of bed and run a casual 13 miles on a Sunday morning! The thought of all those special buns that will be benefiting from this challenge helped me power through 💪 And a massive thankyou to everyone who has supported me so far I really can't thank you all enough! 💓 1 down 364 to go!
Hi everybunny! Our mum is taking on a mad challenge where she's going to run a minimum of 1 mile every day for the next 365 days so that's until 25th May 2020, no matter what the weather! She's crazy! She says she's doing it for all the other rabbits like me who have special needs but who don't have a lovely home like I do! The people at a sanctuary called SNORS take them in and give them the love and care they need. If anyone wants to donate the link is https://wonderful.org/fundraiser/rebeccasrabbitrun-2c89de92 you can also follow my mums progress @rebecca_sophie_pea thanks everybun!
Took this little chub back to the vet for his follow up scans. Nose looks good ears do not. Explains why hes healing, but not becoming stronger. More chats with the vets today about next steps. He just cant catch a break :( . . . We are taking all steps and precautions with his health. We have a team of consulting vets working on his care, as well as a specalist based out of ovc. . . Mean comments will be deleted #bunstagram#hollandlop#sleepybunny#oliverbunny#disabledbunny
Chip still isn’t walking but her leg is fully healed. Really hard seeing her struggle with walking and she has no desire too which I’m not sure why. She’s pretty old so I’m thinking with her age it’s just hard, but she has put on weight , eating lots and is happy as can be. If anyone has any therapy tips let me know. Our vet hasn’t been of much help in the recovery process #disabledbunny#rabbit#bunnygram#bunstagram#chip#brokenleg#recovery
Always munching🤗 I love her appetite❤️ I had a vet consultation with a different vet last week who was very negative and talking a lot about quality of life and euthanasia. She stated that coco was ‘in a lot of pain’, how things weren’t going to improve and treatments were just bandaids. I came away from the appointment feeling awful and questioning if I was doing the right thing or if I was being cruel. But then I was able to reconnect with the truth I know - that Coco is not in pain (we have her on daily pain meds and see our amazing team of vets about weekly to make sure she’s still ok), she loves her food and wants to eat and is gaining weight (and as one of the best bunny vets in Melbourne said ‘a bunny who wants to eat wants to live’), she smiles with her eyes, she engages with her surrounds and she gives so many beautiful kisses. But it was a big reminder to have confidence in the inner truths I have and to keep surrounding myself with positive and supportive people because it makes all the difference to the journey of life💫 #coco#love#precious#bunniesofig#bunniesworldwide#bunniesofinstagram#rabbitsofinstagram#rabbitsofig#rabbitsworldwide#houserabbits#disabledbunny#seniorbunny#elderbun
This weekend marks six months since Coco became ill. That’s six amazing months more than I thought I’d get with her🙏❤️ when it first happened and the vet said ‘what do you want to do?’ And I replied ‘I want to give her a chance’ I never dreamed I would be so lucky to have so much precious time with and continue to do so. ‘I want to give her a chance’ turned into, ‘can we have some more medication and injections to get us through the weekend and reassess next week’ to ‘let’s take it day by day and week by week’ to where we are now. I am amazed every day by her spirit and will to live. By her strength and adaptability. By her sweet sweet nature. I don’t know what the future hold and how long I will be blessed to have her but I’m thankfully every day extra that we have together💕💕 And I am truly thankful for all the amazing love and support and incredible vet care that we couldn’t have gotten through without🙏 #coco#amazinggirl#grateful#bunniesofinstagram#bunniesofig#bunniesworldwide#rabbitsofinstagram#rabbitsofig#rabbitsworldwide#elderbun#disabledbunny#furbaby
👋🏼 So recently a lot of you have been asking us about what happened to Bella’s ear. Before we tell you, you need to know that she was a bunny that was meant to be sold at the pet store. Unfortunately due to losing a part of her ear she was put up for adoption at that same store. So...She developed some health issues, from a very young age. When we adopted her she was about 9 weeks old. We were told that her health issues started with a few abscesses on her body (we all know how terrible those are for bunnies). Eventually she developed Epiphora😞 At that same time she was being treated for GI Statis as her stomach was very sensitive😩So as you can imagine she got given a lot of different medications. As most of you know, most meds in bunnies are being injected through their ears. On top of that, they would take blood samples from that ear too. All of this led to major blood vessel damage in her right ear. The vet looking after her at the time, was a part of the pet shop, so no one paid for her treatment. It was all done because she was ‘their’ rabbit. But instead of trying to treat her ear, he decided to amputate some of it. (After that, the store changed her vet)💫 She was put up for adoption, because in their opinion, no one would want to pay for a damaged bunny as everyone wants pretty/perfect animals🥺 Once she got a bit better, they’ve tried putting her back with the other bunnies. But because she was so weak she was being attacked. They had to separate her as she got more cuts and very bad bald patches all over her body, from the fights. She was in terrible state when we saw her first. Made us emotional. The moment my partner showed me a picture of her I knew I wanted her. Few days later we went to adopt her. They told us that she won’t be ready for few more days. On the day that she became available, we were like the first people at that store! She still has big trust issues, doesn’t fully trust Amigo and tries to fight him
I know it looks messy but rabbits are messy and Bonks is spending time down in his house with Smudgie who looks very happy all stretched out. She’s happy because Bonks is down there with her napping. The stroller is where Bonks spends most of his time now and where he has to sleep at night since he can’t really walk anymore and he falls over. As you can see I have his stroller set up with all of his supplies, food, medicine, baby wipes, pedialyte, paper towels, puppy pads, critical care syringes already filled, etc. Its basically like a nurses cart. It’s always extra special now to see him down there with Smudgie. She misses sleeping with him at night. #specialneedsbunny#disabledbunny#bonksbunny
