🗒️Weds 1/16/2019 Food Diary: ▪business lunch: Olive Garden meatball pizza bowl w/ 2 breadsticks & salad ▪dinner: 🐟🍜fish stew, 🐟fish, 🍚white rice, 🦃 turkey chili ▪dessert: 1x 🍪oatmeal cookie ________________________________________ 📒Food Notes: ▪so funny...I don't go to Olive Garden for something like 10 years and I end up there twice in 4 days. ▪ate a little bit of 🦃turkey chili after the fish & rice dinner to get extra protein + finish up the leftovers asap ▪Postponing the gym to tomorrow. I feel fatigued and my stomach feels off. I wouldn't be surprised that yesterday's 🥃whiskey half bottle drink-a-thon played a role in this matter. It's also pouring 🌧️rain tonight. There’s a torrential downpour occurring with Flash Flood Warnings here in Northern California 😳. We’re staying dry and cozy with this simple dinner tonight. From top clockwise: @amyskitchen vegetable dairy free pizza 🍕, spinach, arugula, and romaine salad 🥗 with @tessemaes balsamic vinaigrette topped with @bragglivefoodproducts nutritional yeast, and some oregano 🌿 from the mountains of Greece, half an avocado, and some pickled artichoke hearts from Whole Foods. Sometimes the simplest dinners can be healthy. It’s about doing your homework and having healthy choices on hand. I love Amy’s food products. They’re a local company who use organic ingredients often from local farmers. Tessemae’s Dressing is non-gmo, sourced from quality ingredients, and sugar free! Bragg’s is another brand that I love. They offer an array of quality products with simple ingredients.
Malfouf.. Stuffed Cabbage Rolls / ملفوف Facts about me with regards to preparing malfouf 😂: -I love malfouf and I seriously cannot resist seeing a good, huge malfouf head and not buy it! (It's love at first sight with malfouf and me)! The problem, however, is that I hate preparing it, especially the step of boiling the cabbage head to separate the leaves, and, ofcourse, all the rolling afterwards 😑. . - I buy it with lots of courage and set it on the kitchen counter,one day, 2 days will pass by and laziness will move it to the fridge. The next day, and everyday after that, each time I open the fridge and see this big lady taking the whole of a shelf, I start thinking to myself "was I crazy for buying it?" "I'll never buy it again". . - Then comes the courage to cook it ...motivated by the fact that I need that space in my fridge. . - I personally think malfouf should be prepared a day before it needs to be served, and the next day should consist of simply putting the pot on the stove and cooking it, followed by a session of devouring until one cant breathe. . - Many people use other methods than boiling the cabbage head to separate the leaves, like freezing or microwaving ... but I like to follow the traditional method. . - In all my mahshi recipes (my mother's Allah Yerhamha recipes ) minced meat should be cooked and sesoned before adding it to rice and using it as stuffing. . - I love a cabbage head that has dark outer green leaves... those dark green leaves are my absolute favourite. . - Both of us (bateekh w jebneh) love the caramilized rolls at the bottom of the pot😋 . - Finally ..which maybe a little strange, I love to eat malfouf in little pita bread sandwiches 😎 . .
