HEALTHY THROUGH the HOLIDAYS #3... Watch Your PORTION SIZES When the holidays arrive, it can be easy to overdo it on your portion sizes. Anyone else have EYES 👀 BIGGER than your STOMACH??? NOT SURPRISINGLY, those who eat LARGER-than-RECOMMENDED portions tend to gain weight more easily than those who don't. 😳 The best way to overcome this is to weigh and measure your food, which may take a few extra minutes and keep you from overeating, or just eat off smaller plates. To determine an appropriate PORTION size, read LABELS and the recommended SERVING SIZES listed on recipes. AND If you're in a situation that leaves you unable to measure portions, use your best judgment to fill your plate with a reasonable amount of food. 🍽 What TYPES of food do you tend to eat TOO-LARGE PORTIONS?
There are 2 types of individuals. Individuals with a [Fixed Mindset] or a [Growth Mindset]. 🎭 . A fixed mindset believes that their qualities are carved into stone. They use language like “I am who I am.” “This is where I am, I’m not going to change.” “I don’t have the capacity to change.” 🤦♂️ . A growth mindset is based on a belief that your basic qualities are things that you can cultivate through your effort. 💪🏾 A person that has a fixed mindset sees an obstacle and says, “oh i’m done.” They see a bump in the road and says, “okay, i’m quitting.” But people with a growth mindset actually look forward to obstacles, because within the obstacles they see opportunity to grow. 💯 Einstein said it best, “you can never solve a problem on the level of which it was created.” So in order to solve a problem, you have to mature. 🤯 . Which mindset do you have? 🤔 . ENCOURAGE SOMEONE YOU KNOW BY SHARING THIS! 🙏🏾 . #growth#growthmindset#thursdaymotivation
“I was born and raised in NYC and am proud to call myself a New Yorker. Even though this is where I’m from, it was always hard considering this concrete jungle my home. My interests and personality don’t match the atmosphere of this city. I am always craving a nature adventure and love things to be slower, so the journey of making NYC home has been an interesting one. Over time, I have learned that home is not the place, but the relationships. Without New York City, I wouldn’t have the important relationships I have in my life today, because it was the city that brought them in the first place. Ironically, in the attempts of trying to make this city my home, New York City brought home to me.” Emily Bautista shares what makes New York City home in our #homeseries.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 . . . #lifebiblestudy#dailyword
“Lord, make me so mightily unbending and inflexible in my Christ-exalting resolve to bend and become all things to all people that I may save some.” - John Piper ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.” 1 Cor 9:22 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By all means, God saved us. He sent his son to the earth. The son of God became a human, and a child. He laid down his deity and position. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Paul became a Jew to win some and a Gentile to win others. He became all things to all people to win them for the Gospel. He laid down his ethnocentricity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s easy to stay in a silo, and for me to stay in my ethnic community. But who of different background can I speak with and become like today? Who can I sit with that is from a different background and listen to someone who is in a different season? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Pray with me this morning.. Lord, help me to stop in my busyness, and to make space for them. Help me to listen, to take interest; and to engage others around me for the purpose of making you known. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸👌: @kattgao

Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29 NLT Today’s Fruit Of The Spirit is Gentleness Sometimes with trees, you need to prune them back in certain areas so that they will grow back stronger and healthier in the right direction. Then the tree can direct it’s energy to other parts of the tree instead of the parts which got chopped off, which obviously the Gardener doesn’t think the tree needs. Jesus is teaching in this verse. He asks us to let Him teach us, because through Him and His humbleness and gentleness, we can find rest and comfort for our souls. God, our Gardener, can prune our tree. Some of us may be growing branches that we shouldn’t be, whether we are engaging in an unwholesome activity or committing a crime. But whatever that may be, when we are open to God’s direction for our tree, and when we let Him gently prune away different areas that He knows we would be better off without, Jesus can direct us. For when we are deeply rooted in Him and when we listen to Him, He can direct the branches that we grow with gentleness and purpose. Then through all this, we can begin to grow our Fruit of the Spirit, Gentleness, by learning from Jesus as He directs us, God as He cares for us, and the Holy Spirit as He waters us, every single day!
