Meet Shawn, Fit4Lyfe's Recovery Specialist! @ha11zy Shawn Hall was born and raised in South Florida where he played Ice Hockey since he was 8 years old. He went on to play hockey at the University of Central Florida while earning his Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences. With a passion for biomechanics, healing, and athletes, Shawn decided to pursue his Masters of Science degree in Athletic Training at Florida International University. He is a certified and licensed athletic trainer (ATC, LAT) having worked with professional, division 1 college, and high school athletes as well as the general population in injury prevention, injury evaluation, and recovery. Hydrate Appropriately – It is extremely important to drink plenty of water before and after your appointment. 💥 Plyo prep continued!💥 . Today’s exercise: Box Jumps 📦🆙🦘and No counter movement Box jumps 🚫⬇️✅⬆️ . Set up with a box at roughly knee height or a little higher for the box jumps and get something to sit on ready for the No counter movement jump. . 1️⃣ With feet roughly shoulder width, quick drop into your squat bringing your arms down to your sides. . 2️⃣ Once you hit the bottom of your squat drive through your legs as hard as possible and jump up onto the box, attempt to land with your weight evenly distributed with arms at your sides. . 🌟 Anti-counter Movement 🌟 🔹For this jump simply start seated on a box or chair that brings your knee angle to roughly 90 degrees. 🔹 lean forward bring arms behind you and PAUSE....... 🔹...... then EXPLODE upwards onto the box. . 🔑 Don’t speed through the pause with the no-counter movement jump, your body should be absolutely still when you start your jump ⏸ . 🔑 As always landing as quietly as possible 🤫 is the goal. . 🔑 Try and keep your weight in your heels and don’t let those knees come past your toes 🚫 . Again with both jumps landing softly is a major key. The box jump is a major building block to plyometric training so you’ll definitely want to master it and see how big of a box you can conquer. My training has evolved so much over the years, it is paramount you evolve with your body. As I near my 30s, one thing I’ve always tried to maintain is my athleticism. For me no exercise comes close to the clean and snatch when it comes to building athleticism. • The clean and snatch is one of the most complex, athletic movements you can do to build strength, power, and general athleticism. It involves nearly every muscle in the body, allows for high amounts of loading, motor development and challenges strength, power, and neural control. • I do not lift as heavy as I used to, my goals have changed so have my priorities. But it’s always nice performing these exercises because they always exposes your imbalances and test you stability, mobility and strength.
#tryittuesday ˙ Me and Jonah had SO much fun at Texas Skatium in Garland last month so of course I had to feature it here for my Try It Tuesdays! ˙ I hadn't skated in DECADES but we had a GREAT time.. ˙ But let me just say this... thank goodness for Barefoot Massage because I have built a lot of strength since starting and I think if I had not then my legs would not have been able to keep up!😂😂😂 Skating is fun but its a workout man!!
