Following God and going where He leads isn’t just about how God wants to free others, but how He wants to free us too. 🌅 #repost @mikaellarectin with @get_repost ・・・ Wildwood Post 2: The most painful part about this summer was God’s sanctification (changing my heart to be more like him). He brought up events and wounds from my past and present that I tucked away hoping to never think about again. Through his mercy, grace, and abundant love was healing. He showed me that He is forgiving and WANTS to share our burdens. He reminded me that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who chooses to love me and sacrificed his own Son that I may have a relationship with Him. I thank the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him and experience His beauty this summer!!! @wildwoodsummermission @summer_missions @cruualbany #wwsm2018 #crusummermissions #govember #testimonytuesday

The biggest choice to be made about summer missions isn’t always where and when to go. It’s choosing to trust God’s plan and provision. Michael Miller (East Asia) shares his pre-trip concerns and how God provided. #crusummermissions #govember #missionmondays
🌏 Josh and Kathryn Himes (staff): “We led a 6 week Cru Summer Mission this past summer to East Asia! It was amazing to go with 4 Penn State students and become a family with the other 6 who went with us. We saw God at work as He answered our prayers to save those we were talking to each week. By the end of it we were able to see 12 people pray to receive Christ! East Asia will forever be on our hearts and we hope to back some day.” #crusummermissions #pennstatecru #worldwednesday
Amanda Hildebrand (‘20)-“I went on a Cru Summer Mission in Berlin, Germany for 5 weeks. During those 5 weeks, I had the opportunity to get to know students from around the world on 4 campuses and share the Gospel with them. It was such an incredible experience! I really saw God moving in Berlin in the way he prepared my team and me to speak His truth to others. He allowed us to meet people where they are. While I was there, God gave me the opportunity to do Perspective Cards with a student, and the conversation my friend and I had with her changed the way I view sharing my faith. All we did was have a conversation, but God prepared my sharing partner and I for that moment. From the little things like taking away my nerves before initiating a conversation to God encouraging me to review a book of the Bible this student would ask me questions about the day before I met her. God is so cool! It blew my mind! My favorite memories are the little things I did with my team for fun! We went paddle boarding on the Spree, watched the sunset on the Reichstag, and made the city our own through our mini adventures.” #worldwednesday #crusummermissions #cru #pennstate
📍🌍 McKenna Schulte (‘19): I went on a Cru Summer Mission to Pretoria, South Africa for 4 weeks. I taught Math in a classroom and helped run various workshops. I saw God move in a lot of ways but most of all was the hope that all the kids have. Like we would think that they have so little yet they were always so full of joy and hope for the future. They were also very open to hearing about Jesus and actually excited for us to tell them what we would our hope into. I was never nervous about having a spiritual conversation with one of them because they loved it as much as I did. My favorite memory was the Saturday hike we went on because it was so beautiful and was also an amazing day of bonding for our team who we grew SO close with. #crusummermissions #cru #pennstatecru
📍🌏Michael Miller (‘21)- “This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to go on a Cru summer mission to East Asia! With twelve other students and leaders, we spent our days building relationships with college students and sharing the love of Christ with new faces as we explored unfamiliar places. In an environment that can be hostile to the gospel message, we saw God transform lives, infusing hope and meaning into wandering hearts. One of my favorite memories was getting to know a girl named Lisa, a courageous Christian unashamed to share her faith despite the social and political pressures surrounding her. She desperately wants her friends to know Jesus and is allowing God to use her however He wants on her campus. The perfect combination of learning a new culture, growing closer together as a team, and surrendering to God, going on a summer mission has forever changed how I look at other people and the world around me -- a world He desperately loves.” #missionmondays #crusummermissions #pennstatecru #pennstate
📍🌍Every summer Penn State Cru sends students all over the world to serve and share the Gospel. These are their stories. Natalie Weller ‘18: “I was in Munich, Germany for three weeks in May, and I met fifteen new friends and learned from a great staff team! We used perspective cards to share the Gospel with university students in Munich and the surrounding areas in Bavaria. One student accepted Christ, and it was absolutely amazing to witness her hunger for Jesus and willingness to accept Him! I learned that God is so much bigger than our fears and cultural differences - despite statistics that show Europe trending away from Him, He is still moving and working and stirring hearts.” #crusummermissions
📍🌍Chandelle Keller ‘20:”This summer I spent a month in Pretoria, South Africa! We spent three of those weeks working with 8th-12th graders teaching math, english, and various other subjects. These students voluntarily came over their three-week winter break. They love learning…they are ALWAYS dancing, and they have the most joy of anyone I’ve ever met. When our team wasn’t at the school, we were doing things like driving through the savannah looking at wild African animals, hiking through beautiful mountains, or going to craft markets and lion parks. We stayed up all night several nights just playing games with our team members. God really taught me how beautiful a rich Christian community can be and how to both contribute and benefit from strong relationships. I have never had such an enriching experience and I will miss the South Africans and my team members so much. To sum that all up, it was a life changing experience and God is so big… he truly is indescribable.” #crusummermissions
📍🌏 Gabi Kaltenberger ‘21: “This summer I had the opportunity to travel to East Asia for 6 weeks. There, we spent most of our time on various college campuses creating relationships with the students. It was amazing to watch the divine appointments God orchestrated over the summer. One of my favorite moments was getting to share the gospel with a girl named Lora. She asked so many deep questions about God and his Son, that really challenged me to depend on Him in the moment to provide the answers. At the end of the conversation Lora accepted Christ into her life; and seeing how excited she was to read her Bible and go to church was just incredible. Through my team, God changed the hearts of 12 students in East Asia, and is continuing to work in the hearts of all the students there.” #crusummermissions
📍🌎 Brandon Segan (‘20)- “I went to the Dominican Republic from May 26th to June 2nd. We arrived in Santo Domingo on Saturday and drove across the whole country to Comendador in the DR along the border of Haiti for the first half of the week and back to Santo Domingo for the second half of the week. We went to a schools in the community and provided a VBS for the students. We taught the children the story of Esther on Monday(Comendador)/wednesday(Santo Domingo) and the story of Joseph on Tuesday(Comendador)/Friday(Santo Domingo). I ran the games portion of the VBS and was able to play with many of the children and explain the stories using the games. In between the morning and afternoon sessions of the VBS we went around the community for home visits. We visited Sarah who is an elderly woman who has been women’s leader in the church for 20+ years and talked to her about her walk with Christ and how we can pray for the community. She prayed over us and we prayed over her. We saw God work through us while bonding with the children to spread His love for them. We also saw Christ work within the children’s heart to be engaged with the lessons and to have the ears to listen how Christ has died for them. The whole trip was amazing but the bonds that I have made with some of the students and seeing their faces light up with a smile when we came back the next day was the best part.” #missionmondays #cru #pennstatecru #crusummermissions
📍🌏Trisha Ashton (‘19) This past summer I went to East Asia for 6 weeks. We did catalytic ministry, which is launching student run movements on campuses with the desire of them reaching the students around them. We also spent a lot of time meeting students and having spiritual or gospel conversations with them. I saw God work in UNIMAGINABLE ways, and saw how He is so intentional, loving, faithful, and freaking amazing. He will do whatever it takes to reach His children and bring them home, and we got to see God do that 12 times! My favorite memory was talking with two girls on our last week. My discipler and I had been meeting with these two girls every week, and got to see them both accept Jesus!! But my favorite memory was being able to talk with them about what it will be like to be in heaven all together and how we will get to understand each other completely with no language barrier. And while we were having this conversation we were celebrating with delicious treats and snacks that we brought for each other :) #pennstate #pennstatecru #cru #crusummermissions #missionmondays 🌏
