Easter Sunday is for the ABS. 💪🏻👏🏻 Just a few shots from today’s workout. One thing I kept in my head this morning that I remember seeing the other day is ‘if you realize how powerful your thoughts are you would never think a negative thought again.’ ✨ Yeah life gets us down, yeah life isn’t always the greatest… and that’s coming from someone whose had my own battle with depression for years, but our attitudes? Our views? Our choices? Our reactions? All of that is in our power. How crazy awesome is that. 💪🏻 If you’re depressed or upset, once you gain that control over your mind? It all will slowly disappear. Same with negative people around you, no one is capable of making you feel any way that you don’t want to feel. Just a giant thought process that quote had sparked in me. Rotation is the movement pattern that fitness pros typically struggle to establish and progress almost more than any of 7 foundational human movements. Our bodies are made for rotation, but the challenge is rotation is a complex movement pattern. Proper rotation requires us to keep a stable #core while creating movement from the ground up through our hips. This can be challenging to teach people, that is why in #dvrt we look for progressions to teach people how not to just load up their body incrementally, but learn more sophisticated movements.  _____________________ ➡️ I wanted to show from most to least complex because, well, it is social media and want to have people see where things can go! Our Around the Worlds are a great example of high level #coretraining because we can’t just have high tension, we need to be reactive with our core and achieve the “pulse” that spine expert, Dr. Stuart McGill, calls the higher levels of core function. It is all driven by the foot work that utilizes the power of the #glutes to drive the body and the trunk to prevent rotation in the lumbar spine.  _____________________ ➡️ Using #kettlebells can be great in order to help teach an intermediate level and work around upper body restrictions that bilateral overhead pressing can challenge. Plus, using the kettlebells, we can create tension on one side to help stabilize our core as we press the weight overhead, not with the arms, but through the power of rotation of the hips. As soon as you will stand up again, you will feel an immediate response, the whole spine is feeling super connected with gravitational forces, you feel like walking on planet moon. Practice 8 times, left and right, make sure to slow down every bit of the movement. Also, the palm of your hand should always be widely opened to guarantee the best support for your head and neck. When folding in and even more when folding out, your floor elbow needs really good grounding to sustain the head high enough. Ask me any questions, I’ll help if you need. A slightly sped up video of my headstand practice the other day. .  I get so frustrated with myself when i know i can do something but my body is too tired or im stressed, it totally throws my balance off. When i am calm and collected my headstand is so on point. .  Note to self: chill out!!

If not, its still #pilates appropriate lol. . . 🔶️A new favorite leg up at 45 #teaser teaching tool for the bodies who desperately want to feel it/work towards it but cant keep em up (at least with functional spine and pelvic control). Not that I think teaser should be anyones #personalpractice Mt everest (I dont). . . 🔶️Adjust the #pilatestower chain/strap to get the bar and legs at the desired angle when the clients v shape is attained. It gives the legs and hip flexors a great oppositional tool to fire against. . . 🔶️The bar IS weight though - so what about the upper body assist? Well - just one of the tower handles at the highest mid attachment is the perfect amount of light directional tug but not much muscle help at all. Which leaves room (as I demo) for building into the progression- dropping one arm, one leg, and making that side of the body feel true teaser feels and freedom. . . 🔶️And just bc I'm always looking for rotation and rolling movements - I played with turning somewhat onto my side. Understanding how our body works is essential in creating exercises that create better results.
