We have played Pandemic and won a few times but this is the first time we've played with the On the Brink expansion. I like this expansion as it adds three new ways to play and also gives you the Petri dishes which I love, they keep all the disease cubes tidy in the box and it's much better than fishing in the plastic bags whilst you're playing. We played the Mutation challenge which introduces the new purple disease, as it was our first time playing this version I decided to use only 4 epidemic cards which in hindsight was a bad decision, it made it too easy, we have won with 6 before but I thought it would be trickier with the purple disease. Another new addition with on the brink are new roles which we wanted to try out so we picked randomly from those, we did get very helpful roles, the Field Operative could use cubes they collect along the way to replace 2 cards when curing diseases and the Generalist gets 5 moves per turn instead of 4. We also get new event cards but you can't use them all so that doesn't change much. Other modes are The bio-terrorist which looks exciting but you need three to four players for that one and we only had 2 today. The other option is a virulent strain challenge which I've not looked at yet. Overall a great expansion to one of our favourites, I fully recommend.
Spirit Island has some gorgeous artwork, but I just love the creative card names. I’m not a huge theme guy, I’m so impressed with how well it’s done here. @gtgamesllc #spiritisland#spiritislandboardgame
ARKHAM HORROR 👾 I love board games with a strong theme and story. This has been on watch list for years so I can't wait to try the new version! 👾👹👾👹👾 Thanks to @asmodeeuk for this copy. I'll post my thoughts once I've given it a good play.
Our first time trying Too Many Bones [Undertow] led to a win over the Tyrant! (Swipe to see who). We really liked this one, primarily due to the robust character customization system. You really feel the impact of your build choices in the distinct playstyle of your Gearloc. Also, the premium component quality of @chiptheorygames is as exceptional as they say--just a joy to play with. Thanks helping us through the learning curve, @kendrasues and @verballyinsane. We look forward to another go. 😁
One of the very cool things we were able to do with Good Dog, Bad Zombie: the inside of the box is entirely printed to look like Central Bark! You have to bring the hoomans home to Central Bark to win the game, and when you pack it all up, everything is placed in Central Bark as well!
