Sorgane District | Florence, Italy | Sorgane is a model neigborhood just southeast of Florence’s historic core. The experimental district, constructed throughout the 1960s, aimed to increase public housing and establish itself as a satellite city. The residential blocks were designed by a team of architects including Leonardo Salvioli, Leonardo Ricci, and Ferdinando Poggi. The residential blocks surrounding Piazza Istria, seen in the selected images, attest a rare moment in Florence’s built history.
