We finally got to go cheer on the Elks tonight. It has been awhile due to his immune system but he was good through the game and even took a mini nap during an intense 4th quarter. #thosebabyblues#coacheskid#coachwife#16weeks @coach_davis11
I’m pretty sure Trice had no clue that Addie considered this a “date” 🥰😂 She is just as boy crazy as I was at this age!! Best friends at the movies taking in #legomovie2 today. #mommydaughtertime#bestfriends❤️
Truth is: every day is not perfect. Shocker, right?! . Yesterday I shared with my clients that I totally stress ate and had a major chocolate binge for the first time in a really long time. I’m talking chocolate cake, Girl Scout cookies, pixies, and probably another item I’m forgetting now. . I had a handful of reasons for it: Day 3 of sick kid at home, 4th night of not sleeping well, felt like a failure because I wasn’t working as much as I’d like to, period on the way, etc. . After I binge ate, I felt a bit sick, lethargic, and guilty about it. . As much as I resented it, it reminded me just how far I’ve come. I used to do this weekly just a few short years ago and now I can’t remember the last time I did this. . Today, I woke up and was determined to have a better day. I woke up early despite being up many times again. I got to chat with a few of my favorite people that I work with. I worked out. Showered. Ate my superfoods early to curb those cravings and then looked at this photo of myself I took just this week. I thought to myself: “I look strong. I am strong! Get back up Tiff!” . I’ve made such great progress, but I still have bad days just like anyone else. . My point of sharing this is...fitness & health is a never ending journey. You get better along the way, but will still have those moments that throw you back to who you were before. For those bad days, just go to bed, and wake up ready for a new day. Talk to people who rise you up. Give yourself grace and even a pep talk if needed 😍
celebrating “Valentine’s Day” or maybe celebrating that he survived basketball season 🏀 yesterday after school he got to drive home in the daylight for the first time since before winter break 🙌 it’s the little things in life these days 💗 hair curled with my @oldnavyactive shirt, that’s about as dressy as I get 😂
🌟Children are the world’s most valuable resource & its best hope for the future- John F. Kennedy 🌟 As a nurse, leader, and mom, I have had the immense privilege of caring for children & their families during times of illness. This patient population can be challenging at times, but also so incredibly rewarding!!! Working as a pediatric ER nurse, emergency services leader, & being the parent of a young ER patient... I have a great appreciation for the impact & influence such care has on a young patient and their family. Caring for acutely ill children requires a skillful approach as trust & a strong rapport are crucial to accomplishing interventions in a manner that is patient-centered, but also efficient. Adding to the complexity is the need to involve & educate parents / families along the course of treatment. While complex & often complicated, pediatric nursing is wholly rewarded. As healthcare providers, we must embrace our smallest patients with great care, as often these early life encounters set the stage for how one views the healthcare system (doctors, nurses, hospitals, clinics, etc.) as they grow & develop. A positive encounter(s) can guide young people toward health & begin to inspire an understanding of the awesome influence medicine can have on wellness. 💭 History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children! - Nelson Mandela #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#coachwife#coachwifelife#nurseleaderwifemom#educator#nurseeducator#health#hospital#medicine #workingmom#momoflittles #pediatrics#ernurse#er
Have you ever been so OBSESSED with something that it’s all you can think about?!?! . Have you ever LOVED somebody so much that you would do anything for that person?!?! . What if that something or someone was you?! 💕 . What if you were so obsessed with taking care of yourself and feeding yourself self love every damn day. How do you think that would make you feel?! I know exactly how it makes me feel and I want the same for each and every one of you!!💋 . Don’t forget to LOVE YOURSELF first✨
I always wanted to be a “room mom”. Both of my parents worked a traditional full-time job, so they weren’t able to attend school events during the day. 👨💻👩🔬 But I wanted something different. Addie wants me to be there for everything at school. She ranks high with quality time as a love language, just like me. 🥰 As a lifestyle coach, I have the time flexibility to help with Addie’s school parties and attend every event she wants me to. So I not only had the time to be at her party, but also the extra income to buy supplies for the party, and give Addie and Jaden some fun little surprises today for Valentine’s Day. I can’t imagine a better, more rewarding job than this.
Negotiation between nations is the hospital equivalent of units or disciplines 😉 💭 How do leaders demonstrate discretion and influence simultaneously during the clutch ‘play’ (contentious moments)? ▪️This can be accomplished when one’s dynamic leadership is evident not only in times of triump, but as well in times of trial. ▪️The ebbs & flow of healthcare & leadership require those at the helm, as well as the bedside to deal with immense amounts of stress. Most everyone has worked with individuals who make stressful times more manageable and those who add fuel to the fire 🔥 🌟A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to be, but ought to go! -Rosalynn Carter 🌟 This is true of healthcare 👩⚕️ , sports 🏀, education 📚, & parenting 👨👩👦👦... ▪️Those who excel in the previous, see the future focused vision & help guide others where they need / ‘ought’ to be. ▪️This takes feedback, practice, repetition, hard work, & much encouragement to help move other from a place of comfort to personal (professional) development. A truly dynamic leader will work within the team (intra- or inter-disciplinary), negotiating to see the best outcomes for patients and staff alike! #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#coachwife#coachwifelife#nurseleaderwifemom#educator#nurseeducator#health#hospital#medicine #workingmom#momoflittles
To the momma’s... who don’t take time for themselves. Who are so busy with their little ones and family that they forget they are valuable and special. She could use a coffee date with a friend, a minute to get a haircut, or even time to eat a meal that doesn't include nuggets or pizza. I’m here to remind you momma, that you are special, valuable and you are worthy of your own attention. You are strong, you are valuable, and you are appreciated. You are deeply loved even on the hardest of days. Make yourself a priority. Your well-being is just as important as everyone else’s. ❣️
Starting this “side hustle” of being a virtual coach has brought me so much joy over the past few years! . I always felt like I wanted more for myself and my family. To do work that meant more to me. To give the gift of health and happiness to others like I had received. Little did I know how many gifts it would bring back to me! . After 30+ years of living in a negative mindset about my body, I finally learned to love my body regardless of what weight I may be at. I’m like anyone else....I fluctuate throughout the year. I have good days and bad, but I no longer talk negative to myself. . I also was given the gift of so many positive people who have entered my life because of coaching. Women on my team, challengers I get to help, and people I just get to chat with. This plays an important role in my life too! . Also, building a business from home is in itself such a blessing too! Being able to take the kids to and from school. To be home for them when they are ill. To be at every holiday party like today for Valentines Day❤️. To me....that’s what life is all about. . If you relate with any of the above and wonder what this coaching thing is, how I help others, how you can too....”like” this post and I’ll reach out to you. It’s been life changing for me and my family and can for your too!
This week has so been a great training week. I have been talking about making sure that your training at some point mimics your race conditions. Let me explain. On Saturday I did a long run, the long run was easy until I Paced up slightly in the last six kms. Also I started later than usual and ran when it was hot and it was a hilly course. On Tuesday, I did mike Repeats, these build mental tenacity amongst other things. Today I did hill Repeats in the rain. How will these workouts help besides the obvious physiological improvements? It will be easier for me when I race a hilly course on hot day or on a rainy day with long boring stretches, I will be able to change pace during my race and be mentally stronger to stick to it. Add things to your training that will prepare you for racing, this way the training will harder but the racing will be easier. Thanks to my #mindcoach @fitmart_sa_ for his guidance with getting my head into the right space! Thank You to my Amazing #coachwife for supporting and driving me to aim higher!! #clintscomradesjourney#beatthedrums#runstrong#hokaoneone#runawaysport#garminsa
🌟 The future of the world 🌎 is in my classroom today 🌟 - Ivan Welton Fitzwater Clinical / Rotation... words that have many connotations within health profession education. Today I taught community clinical & simulation. As I look into the eager (and some very tired) eyes 👀 of my students, I realize what an awesome responsibility I have to do my part in educating the future of our healthcare teams. These are the bright minds, hands, and voices who will shape the profession I love ❤️ As a recent graduate myself, I realize more than ever the need to balance content & practice opportunities. This allows for application of classroom material within the clinical / simulation setting. Without practice, content (regardless of approach) may have little impact & relevancy with many students. Clinical application is the time to put content mastery to the test. After a full day of clinical & simulation activities, we debrief by discussing three key takeaways: 🔑 What did I(we) do well? 🔑 What areas could I(we) improve upon? 🔑 How will I(we) apply what was learned to current & future practice? As a clinical faculty, I truly enjoy seeing the compounding knowledge attained as students progress through the program- applying what is learned from simulated home settings into patient home environments during the home health/ hospice rotation. 💭 How do you provide opportunities to practice for content mastery? 💭 Any debriefing questions you would add to this list for improved impact? #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#coachwife#coachwifelife#nurseleaderwifemom#educator#nurseeducator#health#hospital#medicine #simulation#nursingsimulation
Two of my goals:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Be real ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Spread positivity⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So here’s a little of both. I. Am. Tired. The month of February has been rough and non-stop. Thankfully, nothing has really been bad; just moving at the speed of light with a super packed plate + lots of travel for the hubby.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What it’s reminded me of, though, is that while my plate is full, it’s filled with things I love: my career + the people in it, my fit fam + the chance to motivate and help others, Jesus + being surrounded by His people, family time + making memories, etc.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s given me a chance to lean on some of the incredible people in my circle for help, encouragement, and learning.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So while we are in the whirlwind of high-stakes basketball games and the start of the semester madness and a busy two year old and bible studies and friend time and family time and a side biz, I’m pretty darn grateful to be able to live out my values surrounded by an inspiring bunch of people. And also I’m tired.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ PS - shoutout to Word Party and Paw Patrol graham crackers for being the real MVP and entertaining my kiddo so I could get a few minutes of quiet after work 🙌🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #fitmom#fitmama#selfcare#noexcuses#nofear#nofearnoexcuses#motherhoodmoments#homeworkouts#accountability#yougotthis#yougogirl#strongasamother#newmom#girlmom#momofone#firsttimemom#holybusylife#coachwifelife#lifewithcoach#coachswife#coachwife
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” -Eleanor Roosevelt . . . I used to care a lot about what others thought of me. ❌I seeked out approval. ❌ I had low self-esteem. ❌ I changed my clothes 378163 times. ❌ I re-did my hair. ❌ I wanted to be like everyone else. . . . I needed a change somehow. Turns out, all I needed to change was my mindset. And I started with caring what other people thought of me. Gosh, that was a HUGE step. . . . Once I stopped caring what they thought, I gained all of the things I didn’t have: ❤️ Confidence ❤️ Self Love ❤️ Self Worth . . . So, QUIT caring what people think of you and focus on what YOU think of you ❤️ . . . Now, could I use some different clothes. Yeah, but that’s just a girl for ya 💁🏼♀️
Of all the titles I have held in my life, “Coach’s Wife” is by far the greatest. No one quite understands it, unless you’ve been through it. No one understands what it feels like to stand by as parents threaten your job - our livelihood - and I have to bite my tongue because I am an extension of you. No one understands how many Saturday mornings are spent on the couch, curled up, analyzing game film. Because, weekends don’t exist in a coach world. No one understands how many vacations we miss because the team had to have practice. No one understands how many date nights we miss out on because we bought the team dinner last week and now can’t afford to go out. No one understands that off season doesn’t exist because we are always planning for the next season. No one understands the loneliness of only seeing your husband when you happen to roll over at night. The permanent bleacher butt, the games in the snow, the games in 100 degrees, the irate parents….. It’s all worth it for the one “we are so happy to have you here” or “Thanks coach”, “Can’t wait for next season. I’m so proud to the special breed we call “Coach Wife”

I became a mom, for the second time, 12 short weeks ago today. In that time, we have covered a lot of miles little one: ▪️Several out of state trips- including Thanksgiving in the hospital & Christmas meeting your extended family 💙 ▪️Work meetings, in-services, office hours, & orienting a new clinical faculty member 👩🏼💻 ▪️Double digit basketball games 🏀 (some on TV) ▪️Numerous late nights together while the rest of our house is fast asleep 🌙 While I anticipated many shifts in our home, routine, and efficiency as a family, I did not anticipate the sheer amount of juggling required to “have it all”! Balancing a full-time career and motherhood is not for the faint of heart ♥️ I have been immensely blessed that my current faculty role coincided with the pregnancy & birth of my first baby. My schedule follows the academic calendar, allowing for school breaks & holidays the acute care setting cannot accommodate. However, academics carries an entirely different load that is behind the scenes. Today while school is not in session, I had to capitalize on the ‘day off’ by knocking out much planning & prep work for the upcoming weeks. Along with several sections worth of grading to return 📚 A very bright note among this busy day (season)... @bundoohealth featured one of my posts 💕 Thank you as I created this space in hopes to share my thoughts & perspectives as a coach’s wife, mom, & nurse leader! Most of my content is typed in the wee hours of the night/morning while spending time with this little guy. 🌟 What blessings do you juggle to prioritize? Do you think you can “have it all”? 🌟 #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife
The sweetest little helper, and a moving story! ❤️ . #repost @dnpleader with @get_repost ・・・ My love for medicine started at a young age... entering college I was torn between journalism (I wanted to be TV journalist Nancy Glass @glassentertainmentgroup) & healthcare (visiting anyone I could in the hospital). I quickly discovered journalism was not my strong suit... while I had a passion for writing, my introvert tendencies would not bode well behind a camera 😉 As I think back on what sparked my path toward the health professions... I recall numerous positive healthcare encounters as a child. Through the loss of a grandparent in hospice, visiting a teammate hospitalized after an appendectomy & my dad after spinal surgery... the love I had for medical science grew and grew 💗 The path to my BSN may have occurred in four short years, but during this journey I changed my major several times & transferred three schools before landing at my alma mater. All this to say... as I teach future generations of BSN graduates, I keep at the forefront of my mind the same spark that may be lit while interacting with patients, families, & visitors alike 🔥 When I consider my own family, I will most definitely support my son & daughter in whatever career path they choose. However, if the sciences rise to the top... I hope to remain a positive catalyst for the health professions. Through our hands, awesome work is conducted each an everyday. As a wife, mom, leader, and nurse (educator), I hope my true passion for positive healthcare encounters is evident to those around me 👩⚕️ I love my job as a nurse and educator. Being a part of one’s nursing education is surely hard work, but it is also such rewarding work! I never imagined myself teaching when I went to nursing school, but I find this line of work challenging, impactful, and oh so important 📚 #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#coachwife

Clarity of mind, purpose, & message. Each important as a member of a team and leader. ▪️Clarity of mind- being mentally clear comes from clearing your mind from distractions. Removing the unwanted noise that deters one from achieving goals & allows laser focus on the future desired state. ▪️Clarity of purpose- a key for both personal & team success. A leader must set personal goals that align with & provide vision for the team. In order for a team to achieve successful outcomes, goals must be clearly defined and realistic. ▪️Clarity of message- goal messaging must be easy to remember & centered around concepts the team can get behind. Being clear in the delivery of what is expected for achievement is just as important as the goal itself. 💭 “The habit of acting every day on one or more of your major goals is life-transforming” Brian Tracy. 🌟 The three aspects of clarity combined help teams avoid mistakes and realize their goals! #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#coachwife#coachwifelife#nurseleaderwifemom#educator#nurseeducator#health#hospital#medicine #workingmom#momoflittles
I hate meeting new people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s not because I don’t LIKE other people (even though I do like dogs more). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I find other people super interesting and actually really like hearing their stories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hate meeting new people because I have never in my life felt like they’ll find me interesting enough to talk to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Or smart enough to talk to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Or rich enough to talk to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Typing it makes me feel so dumb, because why would anyone decide “yikes we can’t be friends” when they see the number in your checking account 🙈 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But it’s the reality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Has coaching “cured” me of this? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Of course not. I’m still partially convinced that every time people agree to meet up with me they won’t actually show. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But the fact that I can genuinely feel like I BELONG with a group of women and that they think I belong there too..... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s something I could never put a price tag on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’re here for you when you’re ready to belong to something too 💕
Where are my coach wives? 🙋♀️ Last Monday, we left the sectional championship game devastated. We lost by one point. But, what no one knew was that it would be my husband's last game as a coach for John Glenn. Making this loss twice as hard for us. So, when daddy loses...we like to take a picture and send it to help lift his spirits. I mean, how could these two not put a smile on your face?! How do you make coach feel better on these days? . . . . . #coachwifelife#coachlife#coachwife#coachkids#toddlermommy#basketballcoach
The amazing race... 🏀 & family edition. What a whirlwind of a weekend for our little fam 🚘 What most don’t understand about the college coaching profession is that practice & games are only a small component of this very big job! Fitting it all in just doesn’t happen, but we try to fit in as much in as we can. 👩⚕️ I teach the Friday afternoon class... finished up work after 4 and then the mad rush began. ▪️Home to nurse my newborn 🤱🏼 ▪️Last minute packing for our quick road trip🚦 ▪️High school 🏀 game recruit #1 ▪️Dinner @ 930p & 3.5 hour drive 🍽 ▪️Quick sleep 💤 ▪️Family wedding & luncheon 💒 ▪️Five hour drive 🚙 ▪️High school 🏀 game recruit #2 ▪️Dinner @ 915p & 1.5 hour drive 😴 Whew! That was truly a whirlwind weekend covering over 800+ miles ⛽️ with two small children (2 years & 2 months!) What my hubby & I have learned traveling so much: 1️⃣ Family first... you have to prioritize this- sleep, food, breaks, & activity... getting a walk/ park visit/ wiggles out 🏃🏼♀️ 2️⃣ Be flexible... plans will change & the unexpected is inevitable 💪🏼 3️⃣ Plan ahead... anticipate what you can- healthy snacks, car friendly kid toys & books to rotate through- all these save ⏰ & 💰 4️⃣ Speak up & collaborate... as the trip progresses discuss what you need & plan stops- who’s doing what & in what order 5️⃣ Have fun & laugh... don’t take any moment too seriously & when stressed find a way to add in fun- laughing at what you can’t change 😂 ➡️ What are your travel tips?!? Did we miss any? #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife
Every year he tells me it’s a fake holiday, and every year I have the reaction captured in the second photo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tonight our server asked if we were celebrating National Marquette Day without any awareness for how much she legitimized my life, so...... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’d say 2019 is officially the year that I won this argument #ringoutahoya
Love my babies Lord know I do......BUT, I am patiently waiting on my littles bedtime to come around so this mama can watch the game (and scream at the tv 😩) in peace. It’s a home game 🤦🏽♀️ but, I’m not fighting them tonight so, cheering on my team from the warmth of my bed tonight!!!!! Who else is with me????
Sometimes you don’t see that the best things are right under your nose. . . When I’m in a rush or not able to find the “right snack”, fix that craving and water doesn’t seem to help, or maybe I’m just not feeling well...having these superfoods is all I need. . . I LOVE food, but on days I have a hard time eating, I know that with this I can make just what my body needs. . . Harley seemed a little jealous when I said I was making a blueberry muffin and there was no muffin. 😂
Simulation Prep 👀 What did your work week look like? We know of the need to shift from ‘sick care’ to ‘well care’ and how some of the burdens of the healthcare system can be improved through prevention. But are we adequately training future health professionals for these expectations? ▪️Simulation is a great place to begin ▪️This is just a portion of a messy home 🏡 simulation (patient not included😉)... My little helper couldn’t stop herself from picking up! “Messy, messy mommy.” ▪️Placing students in a new (non-acute care) environment for simulation helps bring real issues and reactions to life ▪️The hope is to challenge student mindsets to see the bigger picture & better understand the continuum of care Have you had any novel simulated experiences as a student or faculty? I’d love to hear about your favorite in the comments below. #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#coachwife#coachwifelife#nurseleaderwifemom#educator#nurseeducator#health#hospital#medicine #workingmom#momoflittles #simulation#patientsimulation
This is me. . If I could, I would wear t-shirts, athletic shorts, and tennis shoes all of the time. (with the exception of leggings and sweatshirts from time to time) . I’m pretty basic. Is that cliche? You bet your buns it is, but it’s 100% me. And I don’t feel bad about it. . This is me. Unapologetically me. .
There’s nothing like a super productive nap-time to round out my Friday (and week)! My work to-dos don’t have to be super long, but it’s in the consistency is where the magic happens. The same thing can be said for my workouts. Funny how that works, isn’t it? 🤗
Whether you have eaten at a Chick-fil-a restaurant one time or one thousand times, you’ve probably heard the employees say, "How may I serve you?" This is a question we love to ask coaches’ wives! What would serve you most during the season? Or year-round? It may be a bible study, or it may be a baby sitter- or both! Everyone is different and we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to share with other wives as well!⠀ And have a great weekend!
This is something I struggled with for some time in many of my new career roles... as a nurse, leader, & educator. The lack of confidence I felt in the novice seasons, led me to hesitate over fear the unknown. Looking back now, almost simultaneously when I transitioned out of the beginner state of a role, I also began to work with less fear and hesitation. Improved confidence, the ability to create and innovate seem to correlate with role ascent. As with so many words, boldness can be viewed as a positive or a negative depending on person / circumstance. In the word’s positive regard, I can see the moments of my career where I am most proud of the achievements I have reached as those where I was able to assert boldness. After the death of a loved one, you often hear people allude to the fact that one should not make any drastic life changes during the time of grief and adaptation. 💭Well... maybe I did it all wrong, but my journey sure turned out great so far! Within the year following my mom’s death, I finally stared fear in the face and decided to boldly push open some doors despite the risk: ▪️I quit a leadership job that was all consuming ▪️I transitioned into an entirely new line of work as a nurse (educator) ▪️I applied, was accepted, and started my doctorate ▪️I began a serious journey toward becoming a parent after struggling with infertility Looking back on that time in my life, I see how I was able to navigate through my grief while also pursuing many avenues that exponentially improved both my personal and professional life. I only hope I long remember how liberating I felt when boldly approaching this season of my life. After experiencing the depths of loss and grief, fear of the unknown no longer has a place taking precious real estate in what time I have left here. #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife
Do we ever feel as if we have it together??? I know I don’t. Welcome to the life of a Coach’s Wife. 🙄 I make all the to do lists. Then I lose them before they’re completed. Daily, I have to make choices on what’s more important, the dishes in the sink, the laundry being folded, or mama getting a breather during nap time/bedtime. As of late I’ve picked the latter. I’m not ashamed. Picking my battles leads to limiting my struggles. Which leads to a happier more pleasant mama and wife!!!!
This is the face of a girl who won’t quit on herself. 😁 My schedule got thrown off by a wifi glitch this morning. Instead of being Uber cranky about it (alright, I was for like 10 minutes), I flipped the switch. I went from being pissed about it, to figuring out how I would fit it in later, and got on with my day......all with a 😁. 🌈 I’m in control of my mood. No one else is in control of my moods except me. You are in control too. You may have something derail you, or someone try to pull you down, but your reaction is what will determine how it affects you. You will be the one to suffer if you continue to sulk and be angry about it. Get over it! Flip the switch! Turn the page!......whatever!! Just move on! ⭐️ ⭐️ Be happy!
Five fun facts from a coach’s wife 🏀 (shared in my stories yesterday): 1️⃣ You will cheer / support / attend more sports than just the one your spouse coaches 2️⃣ Holidays get fit in around the sports schedule 3️⃣ Some days/weeks you (your kids) will see your spouse (dad) more on television than in person 4️⃣ You will have to work to prioritize career and family obligations every.single.day 5️⃣ Vacations can’t be planned in advance, are few and far between, but sacred & precious times Each of the above directly correlate to my days as a nurse & nursing leader too! Here are just a few examples of our common threads... 1️⃣ Each of the disciplines & specialities within the healthcare team are integral to the overall organization success 2️⃣ Hospitals like sports are 24/7/365. Even if you’re not physicially present, coaches, leaders, and many others have 24/7 responsibility. Holidays were always a work-around as a nurse & leader. 💭 Yes, leaders should step up to the plate when needed on holidays too! 3️⃣ Not TV for the majority in the health field, but many healthcare providers see their loved ones via FaceTime, SnapChat, Videos, & Photos when working long shifts 4️⃣ Balancing & prioritizing work / career is an everyday juggle. Never a ‘typical’ 9 to 5, which requires so much creativity to make it all happen 5️⃣ Hospital schedules often shift, rotate, flex, & cannot be planned far in advance. As well as any day off must be covered by someone else. Time away is often minimal at many jobs, but oh so needed! #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife#nursesofinstagram#coachwife#coachwifelife#nurseleaderwifemom#educator#nurseeducator#health#hospital#medicine #toddler#toddlerlife#workingmom#momoflittles
Quality time. My love language is quality time. And not the whiny, constant hanging toddler type, but the happy, play games, make something and sing songs type! The adult conversations about anything or just sitting together type. Season doesn’t often allow for this though and in the thick of it, things are hard. I miss my husband even though he’s around and he does sweet things like the dishes after I’ve fallen asleep in exhaustion with the last toddler who decides they want to stay up late that night. In an attempt to combat this, I’ve made play dates with close friends only for one (or all) of our kids to get fevers and things to be rescheduled. My soul longs for sunshine and warmth, for some semblance of summer days where we get to play outside. And sometimes it all just feels like too much. But God. He meets me here, in my internal whining and complaining where the irony is thick. In the same way my children are acting for me, he scoops me up in my emotional rollercoaster and gives me grace upon grace. And in those moments, he tells me he is all I need. Times are still hard and the days are still long, but my soul has learned... • my help comes from Him [Psalm 121:2] • he goes ahead of me, never leaves me, & reminds me not to be discouraged [Deut. 31:8] • I can take captive every thought [2 Corin. 10:5] God is faithful. And quiet frankly, I couldn’t walk this amazing journey of motherhood without him. ☕️

My husband sent me a text today and asked me on a date. My response: What the heck is that?🤷🏻♀️ He of course gave a typical Josh Thompson response. . . Yes our marriage is super important to us and we do work at it daily, but it has been a tough season. We battle late nights, long drives, and exhaustion, but we still make a good team. I totally understand his love for what he does. Just as he understands my love for what I do. So on nights that I’m scheduled to host my team call he has dad duty! . . I have truly come a very long way in my journey as a coach’s wife too. Before I sometimes saw it as a burden, but now after many years of struggle with this with young kids, I am now able to see it as a gift. God reminds me daily of the blessing it is that I get to be a coach’s wife. I get to see my husband excel in something he works so incredibly hard at. And I just don’t really ask what time he will be home anymore because well it’s a really dumb question to ask a coach. . . And yay for our upcoming date night! Check my stories to see his response😂🤦🏻♀️
Today we had to do a TON of push ups in my 20 min workout program. I’m literally awful at pushups and I’ve been practicing now for over a year and I still feel like I can barely do 5 successful ones before I drop to my knees. I definitely have a heavier lower body and I wonder if that’s why maybe? Not sure, if anyone knows why or has any tips for me to get better at push ups PLEASE send them my way!! I always get so frustrated with things I’m not good at, anyone else the same way? Typically if I suck at something I’ll shy away from it because not being good at something normally doesn’t make me feel good. But I’m teaching myself to do MORE of the things I’m not great at so I can slowly get better over time. Anyway, here’s some photos of me. First one is me trying to do a fricken tricep push-up on my stepper, we have a love/hate relationship😂 then there’s me being weird and then finally, me being weirder. Enjoy! #bod
Coach’s wife 🏀 One of the many hats I wear on a daily basis... we try our best to balance game days, travel, practices, & numerous other commitments with family; however, it is not always easy and definetly not a seemless process. Side note: I have yet to master the challenge of taking a good photo while holding a newborn & wrangling a toddler (eating popcorn) 😂 Did you know there are 351 Division 1 Men’s Basketball programs in the country? This means the specific role my husband has is less than 351 in the country 💜 If I have learned anything being married to a coach the past 12+ years, flexibility comes to mind first & foremost. This took much struggle to learn & it was not always pretty, but today I have learned: ▪️Dinner can be anytime between 6 & 10pm ▪️A non-traditional schedule with littles is ok... we affectionately joke they live like college kids (late nights & sleeping in!) ▪️Taking the trip no matter how hard or inconvenient is always worth it... I never regret time with family & friends despite daunting logistics ▪️Making time in the margins of the day is key... Family meet up for 15 minutes in a parking lot to say hi; Lunch together at home before the kids nap; Or coffees and a quick walk around the gym; Aiming for whatever time we can squeeze in... being creative and knowing it won’t always work out, but the goal is to fit in some family time when we can 💜 Just as many of my healthcare provider colleagues have great work commitments that pull them from their families for long periods of time, so does the role of a college 🏀 coach. But with that great time committment, we can strive to make the time together more intentional. By no means are we experts at this (yet), but we have come a long, long way! #dnp#nurseleader#nurse#rn#rns#rnlife#leadership#nursemom#nursewife
It’s me again.... I had a recovery week after Akasia filled with some moderate tempo and a 23km long run, and after yesterday’s track work I am happy with my recovery and feeling good about my training, the next 4 to 6 weeks are going to be hard training but I’m gonna grit my teeth and push through! Oh yes, there will be a whole lot of smiling, that way the load will be easier to handle 😉. Thanks to my #coachwife for her support and for gritting her teeth when the athlete in me takes over and for always setting me straight. #clintscomradesjourney#mymethod#beatthedrums#runstrong#hokaoneone#runawaysport
