Thank for repost @blackdiamond == Russ Clune is a cornerstone of Black Diamond history and an integral part of climbing’s humble beginnings in America. Peruse the pages of the Gunks guidebook and you’ll find Clune’s name tied to first ascents of numerous classics—perhaps the most famous being the seminal roof climb, Twilight Zone (5.13b). On top of remaining at the fore of free-climbing in the country (and world) for more than two decades, Clune also worked as a sales rep for BD since our infancy in 1989. Simply put, Clune is the sole-definition of what it means to be a lifer.⠀ ⠀ Recently, BD Athlete Sam Elias paid Clune a visit at his home in the Gunks, where he sampled the historic routes of the past, and attempted a rare ascent of the new-school trad testpiece: Brozone (5.14b). But perhaps the most important thing @bookofsamuel walked away with, amid all the climbing history lessons, and constant, often hilarious, Clune cliff-banter, was an intimate view into the soul of a man who has dedicated his entire life to climbing. ⠀ ⠀ Watch the full video, link in profile⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Video: @mikecall ⠀ @blackdiamond_climb #climbing#rockclimbing #climbing_pictures_of_instagram #climbing_is_my_passion #climbinglife#climbinggym#climbingtrees#climbingwall#climbingrocks#climbingisbliss#climbingphotography#climbing_lovers #climbingmountains#climbing_worldwide #climbingday#climbinggirl#climbingtrip#climbing_photos_of_instagram #climbingnation#climbingholds#climbingismypassion#climbinglovers

Just about to begin a climb in #yosemite. Climbing here was awesome. The feel of the rock, the location and exposure. It was a lot to take in. For people wanting to start climbing, a multi pitch climb on #halfdome could seem like a long ways away. However, reach out and find good people to climb with and as you work into a community opportunities to go places and learn how to do things outside of your comfort zone with present themself. This was one of those times and I feel like I grew from this more than I would have thought. Find your local climbing gym and start there. Use reddit or Facebook to find climbers in your area. There’s a lot of resources available to you.
