Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there being present in your kids’ lives. Also too all the stepdads, moms, uncles, grandpas, big brothers and everyone else that steps in and loves those kids. . . . This one is for the ones teaching young boys to pee. Letting little girls paint their toenails. Giving them a high five or fist bump. . . . Thank you for cheering at the games. Bringing flowers to the dance recital. Thank you for showing up. . . . You give them confidence to get back on the bike. You help them love themselves. Your words are powerful. . . . A special thank you to all the dads who do everything for a child you did not make. And the moms who fill both shoes. You are so much more than the definition ♥️
Life circumstances can make progress slow at times. Time, motivation, and creativity can be elusive. Even more so for those of us managing mental illness. Things to keep in mind: recovery is not linear, expect setbacks. Progress is not measured in symptom-free days, but in how you react when symptoms arise. When you have good days, it’s very easy to tell yourself that it certainly won’t last. Tell yourself the same thing on bad ones. If you made yourself breakfast, showered, got out of bed; I’m proud of you. If you didn’t, I’m proud of you for sticking around to see if tomorrow will be better. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I think this shape is cute. #thingsitellmyself#celebratesmallvictories
Working on these Etsy listings for the 9pm restock! I am not the best at this part. Gotta stay focused! I’ll take a break to make my dad and hubs some Father’s Day dinner. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and dad like figures out there!
Another batch of glazed pots from my second class, including my most functional and aesthetically pleasing piece to date, the mug with the carved flower. It feels good in the hand and I like the way the glaze turned out. Just one more piece didn’t make it into the kiln, so it’s back to the studio next week! • • • #learningceramics#beginnerpotter#clayclass#claystagram#wheelthrownceramics
You don’t get beautiful peonies without a few of these cuties, even if the peonies are on your coffee mug! And just because... What do you call an ant in fancy clothes? Extravag-ant! 😂 So now you all know the single reason why we made transfers with ants... Yup, specifically to put them with the peonies! Who’s gonna need one of these?! 😂🌸🐜 Don't forget to follow:➡ @Mark_Prosperie_Pottery 😎 ✅ 😍 * ✅🐶💓 * 🌸 Tag & Share with your Friends⤵ ➖ 🎬Directed by @elanpottery #instapottery#handmade#handmadepottery#contemporaryceramics#potterylife#claystagram#potterywheel#handmadeisbetter

Glazing a planter that totally wasn't a bowl that I trimmed a hole in the bottom 😬 I don't usually wax the foot of my pieces. Instead, I was trained to use a flat sponge to evenly remove excess glaze. It works really well once you get the hang of it. Do you usually dip to glaze or do you paint it on? I have some new t-shirt designs available from my @the_line_rider account at the link in my bio. One of the more intricate designs I've done so far. Every price of the cup is Marbled clay. The cup has been textured and the handle features a marbled bear. I create the bears using a hand made stencil which is essentially a cookie cutter for clay.
🎉 @mikestumbras 🎉 Read the original post below. ・・・ A work in progress in the studio tonight. I wish I could find a way to make these large platters in a series, but the drying and working process requires constant attention. I work these through trimming, cutting, beveling, and slip trailing one at a time. Plates have a dreadful success rate on glaze firing as well. 💘 Follow @Mark_Prosperie_Pottery for more 😉 * Comment below if You like this 💕 * 😝 Credit @pdblais * 💘 Tag your friends 👇 #potterybarn#instapottery#potterylife#claystagram#potterywheel#ceramics#potterylove#potterystudio
Finally finished the plant pots! This one will be up in the shop soon 💕 while we're on the subject of plants, @bloomprojectleicester is open tomorrow for Clarendon Park summer fair so it's a good time to get that plant you've always wanted 🌱
Smash Fest 2019 - Let the carnage BEGIN!!! Follow along with my story posts today to watch beautiful ceramic destruction, a lot of which has been creatively suggested by YOU. 🏺 On a more serious level: us potters know how unbelievably disappointing bad fires are. You’ve put HOURS of work into something, only to have it fail or break at the very end. Still, it’s hard to let go of your work, even if it IS broken. 🏺 That’s why I make it into a SPECTACLE. I say we all celebrate what we went through to get where we are by sending off our “learning curves” of work in a special way. 🏺 My END GOAL for Smash Fest is to eventually make it a COMMUNITY affair; whether that means online participation or a city-wide event where we all smash our art. I would LOVE to make this into a charity event; something where we give back to art in some way, maybe by donating to an art school, etc. Letting go is important, but letting go with intention and purpose is even better. Benefiting the art community would be phenomenal, so as I work out how to go about it, feel free to let me know if you have any thoughts! Next year I want to make this event more than just me. 🏺 If YOU want to join in for now, I’ve started the hashtag #artsmashfest so go ahead and join me!! Let’s make this into something POSITIVE.
Happy Saturday everyone! Last night, I unloaded the kiln, which was filled to the brim with lots of new glazed beauts, and I am so, so, so excited to be back to firing that baby up! I hadn’t used my kiln in over a MONTH. You guys. I’ve missed my kiln dearly!! And I’ve missed this glaze combo! What name do you think this color deserves?! This glaze combo is 3 brushed layers of Amaco’s Textured Turquoise followed by 3 layers of Mayco Flux on the rim!
