______________________________________________________🇬🇧Hello! This is quite peculiar bike, the Royal Enfield Flying Flea was born out of a 1939 prototype called Royal Baby, and made along with a dutch company which made under license the DKW RT100. Both the Royal Baby and the Flying Flea are very similar to the DKW RT100, the main difference is the engine, that went from 100cc to 126cc and the Flying Flea was less noisy and adapted for military use in the British Army. It´s size and weight made it attractive for parachuting and was also sent to the battlefront in gliders, were it served for messengers, communications and other logistics. After WWII it was produced and sold as a low cost motorcycle until 1953, when it was replaced by the Royal Enfield Ensign. So, although the CRMC is now in its 40th year, we'll be making our first ever visit to Castle Combe on 6th and 7th April with a two-day nostalgia treat, as it recreates the Classic racing motorcycle scene of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s!! The weekend will be featuring the opening rounds of the 2019 ACU National Championships with races for both Classic and Post Classic Machines, as well as the start of all the club Championships! Flying the flag for the local riders are Swindon Ace, Alex Sinclair, who has just returned from a very successful meeting at Eastern Creek, Australia, along with 2018 Champion Rich Llewellin riding the Moto Louigi Ducati machines, and from Stroud, the former TT Privateers Champion, Dan Cooper on a 350 Honda. The variety of machines is amazing! From the 60’s and 70’s you can expect to see iconic machines from the UK such as Manx Nortons, Matchless G50’s, BSA Goldstars, Seeley’s, AJS 7R’s, Weslakes, Triumph Tridents and BSA Rocket 3’s, European machines from the marques of Bultaco, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Laverda, BMW and Aermacchi rub shoulders, sometimes literally, with the early Japanese bikes from Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha. And from the 80’s there will be examples of P&M Kawasaki’s, Suzuki GSXR’s, Yamaha TZ’s, Ducati V twins, Honda VFR’s and Yamaha FZ750’s. Add to that a diverse field of beautifully prepared sidecar outfits powered by engines from BMW, Hillman Imp, Yamaha, Suzuki, Saab, Triumph and Norton and you have all the ingredients for a great weekend of Classic Racing!! Overall a busy and exciting meeting ahead with a bit of something for everyone! Practice starts at 8.40am on Saturday morning followed by approx 17 races, starting around 11.15am. On Sunday it’s straight into the racing at 9.15am with approx 22 races and 2 parades!! Tickets are still available through the Castle Combe website, following the link below, so don't miss out!!
🇻🇪Buenas! Excelente dia! _________________________________________________🇬🇧Hello! The RotR is all about wonderful people coming together for a common purpose. We're not sure why it's so popular but we're delighted it is! This year sees our first couple from abroad joining us. So a very warm welcome to Kris from Antwerp and Chris from Mons, Belgium. Why not tell us why you love the RotR and welcome Kris and Chris at the same time!
The King - the Kawasaki Z1. From the drag strip to a cross country road trip, there was nothing the Z1 couldn't handle. It may have been redeveloped after Honda launched the CB750 just before Kawasaki we're going to release their own 750. But you could argue the Z1 took the crown.
