Having scoliosis or a spinal fusion means you can’t and shouldn’t exercise... right? Wrong! I’ve found the opposite is true. You just need to be aware of your body’s limits, maintain correct posture and err on the side of caution at all times. Here are a few of my favourite chest exercises at the gym. I always keep my back supported by using a seat or activating my core, and I avoid going too heavy with weights.
Bench press is great for sure and should definitely be a part of anyone’s chest day but some of my friends have asked me how to “tighten up” or “tone” their chest and I’ve personally seen that incorporating cables has benefitted me in this area.
