The 'Harvest' Chardonnay is a blend of vineyards high up in the Adelaide Hills, and combines a fullish texture with racy acidity 🤙🏼 Not quite as rich as in previous years, but with a really lovely smoky/flinty note that elevates the aromatics. Just some of the wines consumed last night at the #iwfssaigon dinner. What was funny was that everyone had differing opinions about which one they preferred, but they were all great expressions of what they were supposed to be so everyone was right! We all have our personal preferences in wine tastes but the differences should be celebrated! The Loire Crémant gave champagne a run for its money, the Chenas, the smallest of the Beaujolais Crus was full-bodied and spicy, the Chilean Chardonnay was an excellent example of oak-aged Chardonnay, burgundy style, made by a French Winemaker in Rapel Valley - was probably my favourite as it paired fabulously with lobster ravioli that came with a rich bouillabaisse sauce. Trying to get some work done in this heat. It’s difficult, made even more so with this @threedarkhorses Chardonnay by my side. @kinga.of.flavours suggested it when I popped into @jimmurphyexpressmajura this afternoon, when I said I liked funky, textural wines, and this carbonic macerated chardy, unfined, unfiltered most certainly is one of those. Big toasty nutty nose, fruit is ripe peaches, but enough acidity to keep you going back for another sip. I really like this one, it’s probably a lot better with food, so, I’m thinking it’ll go well with the bbq’d sriracha chicken salad I have planned for dinner 👌#threedarkhorses #mclarenvale#chardonnay#jimmurphyexpress
