This belly is a source of so much anxiety. It is heavy. It hangs low and flaps around. It causes me so much uncomfortableness. I have to be careful with certain clothes I wear. I constantly feel the need to wear tank tops under t shirts and other tank tops, to cover up this apron belly of mine. I have to wear high waisted pants and leggings to try and cover it up. My underwear has to be several sizes larger than it needs to be, to cover up the skin. I’ve come so far and have lost so much weight. I’ve worked so hard for this body of mine. This body that has carried life. This body that has carried me as morbidly obese and carries me now, so much more fit and active. More than I’ve ever been in my entire life. Do I regret losing weight? Not at all. I’ve gained a life that I never dreamed of having. But my stomach is a burden. It hangs low and is an apron. And I want it gone. My drs office called my insurance company to find out what I have to have documented in order to have a panniculectomy. A panniculectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the pannus (excess skin and tissue from the lower abdomen.) This skin is sometimes referred to as an “apron.” Unlike a tummy tuck, a panniculectomy does not tighten the abdominal muscles for a cosmetic appearance, disqualifying it as a cosmetic procedure. And..... my insurance will pay for it! No stipulations!!! I’m in shock and so elated! My goal is to get down to my goal weight, so 10-15 more lbs and maintain for 9-12 months and then have the surgery. I won’t have to worry about my skin flapping around anymore. No more anxiety or heaviness from the skin laying so heavy on my body. It’s a hinderance and knowing that I have this option to have it removed is amazing. My hard work of losing all of this weight has really paid off. Tonight’s tea... the first meal in a while I’ve sat down and thought... don’t eat it all just eat until your full!!! If you’ve been a little piggy in the past you know that whatever is on your plate... goes in your belly! I don’t usually leave a single thing on my plate even if I’m stuffed!!! I even bought myself a smaller plate so that I had a smaller portion... today I looked at my plate and thought... you CAN leave food if you are full! In the past I had ordered an 18 inch pizza to share with one other and then a kebab to myself! Yes this is why I was 18 stone!! I defo could have done the whole man v food challenges!!!!
