I started making glass in 2002. I remember acutely how painful it was to show those first pieces to other people.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As I recall, there was a slow unfolding. In the beginning I could only show my husband and immediate family, and over time, some friends. More time passed, and fellow artists at a local art center. Still more time then local shows. Next online. Still more time, a national catalog, then two, then three. Now I post several images every day. It’s become a part of who I am. Know Mira ... know Mira’s glass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Creative vulnerability is like the ripple that follows a pebble dropped in a still lake. It’s really close at first, but over time, it’s moves away from you in every direction, ever so slowly. I don’t think there’s any getting out of ... not for any thinking person anyway.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m on a new project now. And that same feeling is in the pit of my stomach. I will drop the pebble in the water and that vulnerability will be so close, it will feel like it’s touching my skin. But time will move that scary feeling away from me and eventually, the fear will dissipate.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know this to be true.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #creativity⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #scaryasshit⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #creativevulnerability⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #abstractexpressionism ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #abstractglass ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #abstractartist⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #newart⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #newglass⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #largescaleart ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #mirawoodworth ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #interiorart⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #homeart⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #homedecor ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #glassbowl⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #interiordesigner
Better late than never! I wanted to thank all who visited @nickyworks studio during #artawhirl2019 Itwas great watching your reactions when entering the studio and seeing my green and blue plant paintings. One person said that she felt like she was in a sunroom! And it was fun talking to you about my anonymous houseplant paintings that combine tropical plants with patterns and everyday objects. I love making them so!
